1 of these things is not like the other, one of these things doesn't belong.

If Legette gets it together then he, McMillan and Jalen Coker could make for a really interesting corps.

Possible Adam Theilin stays around too. Hell, even if he retires, he seems like the kind of guy who could make a very easy transition to coaching.

Ah 😄

I tend to prefer full game tape and analysis over highlight reels anyway, but I thought I was giving you a taste of the guy was. My mistake 😁

haha I love it, all good.

And I totally agree, especially for someone like T-Mac since most of his highlight reels are made up of his absurd contested catches.  Which sure, they're amazing and love to watch them, but when that's all people see of him, then see his size, it creates this false narrative to them that he's this plodding big WR.

It's when you watch the innocuous plays of his from his full tape that you see his complete usage that shows off his versatility and unexpected speed/agility for a player of his size.

A quick WR screen where he then makes a man miss and pick up 10 yards after the catch isn't going to make his standard 2 minute highlight reels.  But they're the plays that show off his unnatural moving ability for a player of his height.

At least from what I've seen, he seems like the kind of receiver that makes offensive coaches drool. I'm looking to read analysis of his route running and decision making sometime upcoming.

Just gotta see how things shake out...

Panthers great jonathon mingo?

lol

In all honesty, the major difference is that Mango and XL were projects, they both had raw physical talents that they still needed to tap into.

T-Mac is the exact opposite, he's been productive since the second he stepped onto the field in college, has insane physical tools, and just needs to fine tune a couple specific areas of his game to really take his game to the next level in the NFL, in particular his initial get off at the snap and crisping up his cuts just a tad.

He already runs a full and complete NFL route tree, something neither XL or Mango can do even right now.  If he just cleans up his cuts on said routes by even just like 33% to give him just an extra half step of separation, it's going to help take his game to a scary level, as his hands are as elite as they come, give him a little more space and he's going to be a future HOFer

He runs a full NFL route tree already, can be used in screen games, quick slants, going across the middle, go routes, basically anything you want.  Yes, he needs to get a little quicker off the line at the snap and crisp up his cuts on his routes a tiny bit, but honestly, those are two of the only things he needs to work on, he's such a complete player already.

His biggest "flaw" is his lack of top end track speed, but realistically, Bryce doesn't have the arm to properly utilize that type of WR anyways.  And once he gets going with his long strides, he has MORE than enough speed to be a true elite #1 WR.

I still think our chances of landing him come down to his 40 time.  If/when he runs a sub 4.5 like I think he will, I can't see him getting to 8.  I'm pretty much to the point of hoping his size and lack of a track background make him slow out of the blocks so he runs a 4.55 and falls to us at 8.

Curious what you mean by "decision making" as that's not something you hear about a WR (what kind of decisions are they making out there?)

But if it helps.... one of the things that made him so good in college was that his QB was his best friend and have played together since 8th grade.  His "find an open space and sit in it for his QB" game is as good as I've ever seen at this level because of that connection, so you know once he gets comfortable with his NFL QB, it's going to be a Mahomes/Kelce type of situation, where they share a brain out there and just know what the other person is doing.

Smart receivers know how to read coverages, alter routes if needed, things of that sort...

I like where his thinking is tbh. People loosing their heads because this doesn’t look like other mocks aren’t paying attention. This is probably one of the most unpredictable drafts we’ve seen.

Yea, figured you meant something like that, but just not sure I've seen someone use the term "decision making" for a WR in a draft analysis before lol.

If that's what you want to see though, you'll see A TON of it in his tape from this season in particular.  Our OL was straight garbage this year, lot of scrambling by our QB and forcing T-Mac to make adjustments on the fly and find open space in the coverage.

Plus he was doubled and tripled on a consistent basis, again forcing him to find ways to get open and find the holes to sit in for his QB to find him.

Again, another reason why I think he's such a great fit for Bryce and his game.

one problem we had last year was getting the ball in the end zone.

Having Tmac should greatly help us in the red zone.  It would be fun watching Bryce's accuracy to a guy who can get up over the entire defense.

This times a million

Bryce doesn't have a rifle for an arm, but what he does do well is place the ball with touch.

As much as I hate on Bryce (and I still don't think he's a franchise QB), I think a Bryce/T-Mac combo would be a true elite combo in the red zone, and in particular on those 10-15 yards and throw it high and to his back shoulder routes.  Once those two get their timing down, that play would be unstoppable with his size and hands when the ball is placed out there where the defender has no chance at making a play on it.

this was true for a stretch in the middle of but wasn’t really a storyline as the season went on.

honestly if there is any portion of Bryce’s game that you should have total confidence in, it’s probably that. The anticipation, the tight release, the elastic arm angles, the mobility. That’s the whole package in goal to go time.

We need to fix the defense, but if we draft TMac I wouldn't be upset. It would be painful to watch a team get the next Calvin Johnson while we passed it by

carter

tet

mason

walker

campbell

all 3 would be a welcome addition and one of those surely will be there at 8

    • I think it's strange that you still can't see where I'm coming from, and I guarantee you don't have more faith in him than I do.  You're looking at him in a vacuum, not about the team around him and the likely offensive game plans this season. We're going to be a run first team with 3 receiving options better than any of the other players on past rookie 1k seasons. If you can't understand that, then it's a you problem, not a me problem. Arizona's previous basketball coach, Sean Miller, used to do something at the first team meeting of every season and I think it's soooooooooo applicable to this situation. He'd have every player right down how many minutes/points they expected to average that season and then he'd add them up.  It would show that if they all hit those numbers, we'd score like 125 points a game and need to be playing 7 guys at a time to get their minutes. That's pretty much how you guys are putting your T-Mac expectations out there, looking solely at the player and what you think he should be able to do, not how the offense will operate as a whole. Every yard one player gets is one less yard someone else can get.  It sounds like I just have more faith in Thielen, XL, and Coker this year than most everyone else.  But a big reason for that faith is because of T-Mac and how much he'll open things up for the rest of them and Bryce being the type of QB to take the open easy passes than force it to his #1. As I've said, if any one of the following happens... Thielen ends the season sub 700 yards, XL or Coker end up sub 500 yards... Then yes, I will then shift my expectations for T-Mac's rookie year to be at least 1,000 yard season. But since I have faith in those other 3 having solid seasons, it tempers my expectations yardage totals for T-Mac this year, and this year alone.  I've also clearly stated many times that I think he's going to reach 10 TDs. If T-Mac ends the season with 800 yards and 10 TDs, while Thielen gets 900-1,000 and XL/Coker each get around 600, I don't see any world where that is a failure for a rookie season for T-Mac. Because again, we're talking about expectations, not what is possible.  So given the other WR options, I can't EXPECT T-Mac to get to the 1k mark, which is a far cry from me saying I don't think he can get there. Do you really not see the difference there?
    • I don't recall anyone seeing this coming.  I mean, two seperate things for me.  I thought BB just might not work in college football because he is old grumpy man and college is about appealing to young kids.   So yeah, that could of gone great or horrible.  Coin flip.  This isn't that convo for me.  what we are witnessing right now play out.....this was never part of the disaster possibility/path discussed lol.  Really weird stuff.  Or maybe I missed the part where UNC hires a 20 year old "girlfriend" that apparently runs the Bill operation and before the season even starts is taking over more than just Bill but influence of the entire UNC operation.  That was her getting that official statement made today.  It was her sabotaging the Hard Knocks UNC show because she somehow wasn't the star.  Seems like elder abuse lol.  Only largely kidding.  You even got Charles Barkley saying he normally doesn't talk about personal lives of his friends but he might have to check in on Bill because this ain't normal stuff lol.  Anyway, it's entertaining.  Everything is a cartoon it seems these days.
    • I think its strange how you were claiming this guy was the second coming of Mike Evans and you can't even get behind 1k yards? I guess I have more faith in him than you
