Just a slight bit of research I did.

Recommended Posts

I was trying to tell off a dude who commented on one of my videos calling the NFC a weak division, so I researched to make sure I had my stuff correct.

The NFC South is the ONLY division to send at least 3 teams to the Super Bowl within the past 10 seasons. Carolina, Tampa, and New Orleans. The Falcons went in 1999, so if you count that, we're 2 teams ahead of any other NFL division in terms of Super Bowl appearances.

Obviously, some divisions have sent single teams multiple times, but does that show a division as strong?? No, it shows a particular team as strong.

Just thought this was quite interesting, incase some of you guys didn't take notice.

You have to admit though, the past two years, Tampa has been terrible. Atlanta and us haven't been models of consistency either. The Saints in the Sean Payton/Drew Brees era have been the closest we've have to a consistently good team in the NFC South. I can understand why we are undervalued. Though I think we do have some good teams, and 2010 will be very interesting across the NFL. Big year since 2011 might be shortened because of a lock out.

Yeah. We're very underrated.

tell me about it, I gotta hear how weak we are all day from a bunch of cowboy fans at work that think the nfc east is the hardest division in the league, they just get the most media attention but we are by far the toughest division

Hmm. I wonder what divisions has the best W-L record since Houston became a team. Our division always seems to have at least one contender, but the way the divisions teams have been inconsistent make it appear weak.

It could also just show that the teams in our division are inconsistent, rather than consistently good every year.

You're right that they are inconsistent, but how does this statistic show that? We just know it's true. :P

if any division has an argument for being tougher than ours, its NFC east. the eagles make the playoffs every year, and the giants and dallas make it more often than not.

yeah, this league is all about the playoffs and winning the superbowl. period. it isn't about who had more 9-7 teams. the NFC East sends 2 teams to the playoffs more years than not i'd guess without actually looking it up. they are clearly the best division and have a long history of superbowl wins with a total of 11 wins including 3 or more by 3 different teams.

the South is IMHO (haha) the second best in the NFC. (currently. the north and west have won more superbowls. the south is well behind in that stat.)

you can tweak the results by picking a small time frame, but year in, year out, you have to give credit where it is due.

You have to confine the data to the divisional success since the realignment in 2002. While the NFC East hasn't changed since well before that, the other divisions have such as the NFC South, rendering any comparisons before that irrelevant. So your argument is not correct or germaine. Since the realignment the NFC East has won the Superbowl 1 time.

Just sayin.............................
