Greg Hardy

IF he can stay healthy I think he'll be very good, FO is looking for a younger option for Brayton and Hardy has the size Brown lacks. We should also temper our hopes as most DE's take a season or two to make any real impact.

I really like size/speed/strength combo.

I feel Hardy may turn out to be one of the drafts big surprises.

If he has shaken the injury bug like some are expecting him to do,he could turn out to be the mainstay of our DL.

You guys are such homers...Hardy was the 3rd best dlinemen at Ole f*cking Miss, he's not Peppers part II. With that said, I think he'll be a solid, player but outside of flashes he was never anything special in Oxford. Jerrell Powe and Kentrell Lockett are/were the beasts of that line.

Unless the Saints drafted him. Then Saint J would be touting him as the next HOF player.

Dan Morgan 2.0?

Dan Morgan had not injuries coming out of the U. So I hope its the reverse effect for Hardy.

Dude how do you come on a Panthers board and proclam people to be homers. I mean what do you expect. Im sure if I went on to a saints board someone would be saying the same kind of poo.

FWIW, Jaren Allen was drafted in the fourth round.

True statement

Truest statement of them all.

We have done quite well in the past drafting value. Duke Robinson might be our starting Right Plowhorse--he fell to the fifth. Connor was a late first round projection who fell to the third- he will probably start for us. DeAngelo was touted by some to be a top 15 pick, he fell to 28. All of our TEs are fifth rounders, Schwartz and Bernadeau were seventh rounders who seem to be performing well. Everette Brown was a first round talent that we got in the second (for a first the following year). Take a look at this year's draft:

Clausen --projected top 15 pick, mid 2nd round

Lafell--projected 2nd rounder, third round

Edwards--we reached in many opinions, which leads me to believe that he will be special. After all, the Panthers knew him better than any other team.

Norwood--projected second to third rounder, we got in the fourth

Hardy--probably a realistic, common projection for this season was the third or fourth round. We got him in the sixth.

Tony Pike--projected third to fourth, we got in the sixth.

That is how we are staying out of free agency, something I compare to dealing with loan sharks. You are going to pay too much for instant gratification. On Paper, the Panthers are a .500 team this year. But those who follow the team and know the personnel are expecting something special to happen in 2010.

And look at the value we have found in free agency: Both starting DTs (I think they will be better than advertised--Indy never had much at DT with Meeks but were strong at DE). Harris was a steal for a 5th and we got Jamar Williams for him, another steal.

One final thought: A few players are ready to step up this year, and I think they will. Aforementioned OL Robinson, Schwartz, and Bernadeau-- not to mention Garry WIlliams, CJ Davis, etc. give our OL the most depth and flexibility it has ever had. WHen you pay free agents, depth is lost. On D? Charles Johnson, Everette Brown, Munnerlyn, Connor, Godfrey, Martin, Anderson, and Corvey Irvin should all be improved. Offensively, we get Sutton for nothing, giving us 4 RBs. We get one of the most versatile and best FBs in the country (R. Jackson) for nothing, Fiametta is now better and stronger, and Stewart will be healthy for the first time ever. We have never been deeper (or more unproven) at WR than this season, but do not count out JARRETT!! With Jarrett, LaFell, Edwards, K. Moore, Gettis, etc., Smith has what he needs to get single coverage. And finally, QB talent on this roster is better than any other team in the league. Indy? Pittsburgh? New England? New Orleans? San Diego? All one injury away from mediocrity, and those teams put a lot on the QB.

not sure i am on the rashawn jackson train. i'll be surprised to see him on the 53 man roster. probably will be on the PS. not buying the keeny moore hype and i really don't know if the WRs we have will bring smith the single coverage. maybe down the road i'm pretty far from agreeing with that now.

really not buying into the QB love you are spreading either.

i'm pretty optimistic about this year, the state of the team and the future especially, but that is some pretty strong kool-aid you're drinking there.

No, I wouldn't at all. I've watched most of the kid's games since 2007. I know how good he is and I wouldn't be jacking it to a game vs. Bama he played in three years ago.

I'm not expecting much from him this year. I'll be happy if he's the 4th DE and sees some snaps in rotation as he gets used to the pro game. Hopefully, when Brayton is done we'll have a great core of DE's with Johnson, Brown and Hardy.

I really don't know what to expect out of Hardy, it's clear he has the talent to be a very solid player but the injury bug is hard to shake. I think Brown will show allot of improvement this year and could easily become a double-digit sack guy. I'm really excited to see Charles Johnson get a significant number of snaps, I think he might be the biggest sleeper on our team right now.

I think Hardy, Brown and Johnson will really impress. I'm more worried about our tackles, but we'll see.

Good point, the success of all our DE's will in large part be dictated by out DT's ability to draw double teams and get pressure up the middle.
