Though all logic screams no, Goodell's bloodhungry, ambitious thirst for fame goes on

From a Brits point of view....

For a start its an American sport yet the SB winners are the world champions...can't have it both ways.

Secondly how many people here have been to a SB? The SB is one of the least accessible events on the planet for fans as it is so popular and aimed at businesses to make more money, rather than for an ordinary fan. Losing the SB isn't an issue for fans, its an issue for the city's of the US that lose the business. Anyway my opinion on a UK SB, I would love it but its not fair on the US cities that pump money into their NFL teams only to see hundred of millions in revenue go abroad.

My final point is about a Europe based team, the NFL isn't popular enough yet for a team to fill out a stadium 8 times a year but in 10 or so years I could see it being a viable idea. Whoever mentioned travelling as an issue is forgetting that its roughly the same flying time to England from Florida as it is for a Florida team to fly across the US.

Anyway thats the oppinion of something on the opposite side of the pond. Good business idea but unfair on alot of US cities.

And for Central and West Coast USA teams, it's double the amount of time. That part is bs.

I do NOT see how the growth potential here in the U.S is limited.

There is PLENTY of room to expand financially.

Heck, add more teams...Los Angeles...San Antonio...all cities that have been pining for teams for years.

Plus, if the issue was pure expansion, then we could easily strike a deal with the Mounties north of the border.

American football is already much more popular up there than it is across the pond, plus, if the League wants to put a team in another country-Canada would be the only viable option where the team playing in the foreign country wouldn't have a massive homefield advantage-so if he feels the need to expand, why isn't he doing it there?

With that said...there's still plenty of room for expansion here in the States.

The majority of NFL revenue comes not from ticket sales, but from television contracts. Those TV markets are already served, so adding new teams there does little to nothing to increase NFL revenue. New tv markets are needed and those can only be found internationally.

You're right that NFL is more popular here than anywhere else, but perhaps that is because other markets have never been given access to a quality product.

NFLE vs NFL is an apples to oranges comparison. NFLE was an inferior product with inferior talent and the Europeans know that. There is a lot of interest in the NFL as evidenced by strong demand in England. There is also enough interest in Germany and Spain to consider expansion/games there as well. Mexico City is another tremendous opportunity as are other large Mexican cities.

It's not the travel time that's an issue, but the time zone change. Adjusting for an 8 hour difference takes some time. It wouldn't be a big deal for the SB, but a weekly game would be a mess. In addition, practices would suck as everyone adjusts back. The team based in London would be a disaster, as they would be moving 5-8 hours twice a week. Good luck getting any productive practice time in with a nightmare of a schedule like that.

And if the quality of your business goes down, you lose customers, additionally, if you displease your employees and customers by consistently making moves that are only financial without any regard for the desires of your employees and customers, you lose business.

It would be a short term fix.

The NFL's income would boost temporarily..until people realize the game is a shell of what it once was and start losing interest.

It is like the old and time tested addage,"If it's not broken, then don't try to fix it".

To much change to soon could be a serious overkill and help destroy the NFL game of football as we now know it.

Roger Goodell needs to backoff and enjoy the success of the present day NFL and stop trying to meddle and tinker with a tested and proven sport.

The NFL in europe would be like the MLS here, everyone knows its there but most people dnt pay attention to it. Same with the WNBA vs. NBA the majority of the people that watch the NBA could give a rats ass about the WNBA. So yea I'm with everyone that said fvck Goodell this is Americas game keep it that way.
