Are the Panthers suicidal?

I mean that as - D-Williams only getting 10 carries last week. TEN.

6.4YPC, and he got 10 carries. They throw in Mike Goodson, who played pretty well, but still. Williams carried the Panthers to the playoffs two years ago, what happened? Stewart is a straight beast and he only gets 8 carries (1.6 YPC though). Did we just decide we want to break in the rookie QB all of a sudden and let him throw 30+ times to rookie WR's?

Something is wrong with this team, not the players. I think there are some kinda handcuffs on Fox to do certain things (like start Clausen, keep Williams and Stewart on the bench so we lose, not throw Steve Smith the ball much).

I think it's obvious we aren't doing everything we can to win games. I'd like to see the offensive game plan against the Saints, who have the worst D of all the teams the Panthers have played so far. Williams gets 10 carries again with a 6.4YPC, Panthers don't want to win. Plain and simple.

Before you point at average as a justification for more carries, you might want to consider the circumstances. Roughly half of that came on his last 3 carries. We were 2 scores down. 6 of those first 7 carries were for less than 2 yards. We were not sustaining drives with the run. Stewart was not doing any more.

My pre-game checklist:

Get chicken wings

Put beers on ice

Plug in defibrilator

Lock medicine cabinet

Have wife hide all cutlery

Secure second-story windows

Remove any rope/chain from the garage

Pray to wake up Monday

Get ready for kickoff

Go Panthers!

how about this...panthers aren't running because it isn't working. it isn't by design. with a new QB you want to run more than you usually do. panthers aren't running because defenses figured out how to shut it down. run blitz. don't just stack the box, invade it. run everyone in and don't worry about getting beat by the pass because the WRs can't get open.

you people make it seem like the panthers want to do something other than run. they aren't running because it isn't working.

what makes it worse is they are playing from behind. when you play from behind you are playing catchup and you don't do that do that on the ground.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
