Jimmy Clausen is a Coward

I was at the game today and man alive there were open receivers down field.

I was at the game today too, and this is soooo true. I'm tired of people saying the receivers don't get open because that's not always the case. Oh and Lafail sucks. Gettis will be a beast for years to come though.

he is NOT a coward, it's coaching. yes, he's sucking hard, but you know why? because our coaching sucks, our playcalling sucks, he has no chemistry with receivers, and he's a freaking rookie.

We are putting him in an impossible situation. I think Fox is giving a big middle finger to management by trashing their "future star" as best he can.

holy crap, who the hell thought it was a good idea to let the cleveland browns' qb coach who did such a great job with DA and quinn get ahold of Clausen?

edit: also, posters are right, the dude is rattled. he is definitely taking off too quick. do you remember a few weeks ago when he took a hit and still fired a shot down into the endzone to lafell? (which wasn't caught) that is what I was expecting from Clausen. that is NOT what we're getting. =(

The "he's a rookie" talk is not getting it folks. Think real hard, now name the play he showed promise? It doesnt exist.

Saints game most people were saying he showed promise..now we play a game were he looks like a rookie playing on a bad team..and people freak out.smh

its going to take time..

Honestly, I never saw anything special. His first two games were below average or mediocre at best. Everyone said he improved, but I didn't see any. Maybe it's because he doesn't turn over the ball that we think he "improved".

It's funny all the coward speak, when not a single person calling clausen or anyone else on the panthers a coward would have the balls to go do the same job. Clausen played poorly, but calling a football player, put in the position some of the panthers players are in, a coward is completely asinine.

And I'm sure you'll be the first to say when he has a great game "I knew he had it in him all along, I knew he'd be great."

And nearly as many intereceptions. Had a Quarterback rating of 71. Had a relatively low yards per pass. Relative to the rest of his career, thats a bad year, which was the point I was making.

That's 10 miles better than what Clausen is doing on the field.

I'd do that job no doubt...I actually have game tape of me doing a similar job and not being a coward about it just at a lower level and for not as much money. You give me 500k per year and i'll do nearly anything you want

I've honestly had enough. Say what you want about the playcalling, lack of receivers (even though Clausen prefers Gettis over Steve Smith), etc. Clausen's decision making is that of a coward. 3&8 penalty on the ground what do you do? Throw it away.... Doesn't even attempt to complete a pass so that the other team will have to accept the penalty just gives up. No pressure, he could wait for receivers to get open but he just throws it away.

Another drive it's 3&18. Very little pressure and Clausen zooms it to Williams. Doesn't even seem to look down the field.

He threw for 8 yards in the first half. Anyone in the NFL could have done better imo. Armanti Edwards could have done better, Todd Collins could have done better, David Carr could have done better, Randy Fasani could have done better.

Screw this guy I likely won't be posting too much more on this forum. I'll continue watching the team but I just have lost the passion for football thanks to JR's impassionate business decisions and this crappy coaching staff along with young moronic players like Brandon Lafell.

You're right - he should be a real man like Moore and throw multiple picks when nobody is open.

    • interesting podcast. Did my best to summarize  1  none understand why rico isnt getting 100% of snaps 2  dalton  is seasoned veteran  and for this game, could he more of a challenge for bills than young   Better arm and   Familiar with  mcdermott defense.  Has seen everything    Impressed with Tet  and Panthers do not have bad receivers and impressed by size  3  not impressed with bills passed game and Allen is being held back because of it. bills do not seem to have a consistent vertical  passing game  as in past.   No intermediate More Short passes for YAC and that hurts Allen    Could be to control pace and tempo of the game given the bills defensive weaknesses    Need intermediate to stretch zone defenses  4 bills have several returning from DL from suspension this game on defense that could help  5  atlanta beat bills offense by  blitzing  and played ton of man coverage.   No structured intermediate passing game for bills   Bills had no answer for atlanta defense either blitzes and man to man coverage    Rushed 5 or more on over 30% if Allen’s drop backs  6  compliments the panthers defense   Up and coming but has issues. Last in pressure on qb   Last in DVOA and coverage of TEs
    • jesus christ, what weird subforum did I stumble upon where people are talking like Dalton is this incredible back up that is going to throw for 400 yards and 4 TD's like we haven't seen him in this role before, and that there is this master plan to fake Bryce's high ankle sprain in order to bench him during a winning season with favorable stats?
    • It is strange, but no less surreal than him being the 1.1 in the NFL draft.  If I were in the situation the team is in, I would be Not want to aggravate that injury and would be overly cautious. He needs to be fully healthy so he can properly evaluated in these games that are coming up.  They see Dalton in practice, they saw the film from Sunday. Maybe he has looked good enough that they think a side benefit to the caution is getting to look at the offense with a different guy running it.    The worst thing that could come out of it is Bryce is hampered the rest of the season
