Panthers find it hard to break losing cycle

The Arizona Cardinals coach said about his team, the biggest problem when he took over was overcoming the mind set of his players. He said that it was November and they were on their cell phones making plans for vacation in late January early February! There wasn't one player who was thinking abouit the Post Season. He said, that told him right there, that he would have to change their mind set and get them thinking about Post Season.

Dilfer believes Moore and Clausen can be successful in time, saying NFL quarterbacks need between 35 and 40 starts before they can be judged fairly.

Jesus that's a lot. Much better than the two this board gave Moore or the three it's given Clausen, but 35-40? I think you can tell before then. I'd say more like 19. Play a season, then start out the next on a short leash.

Funny they mention Clausen talking repeatedly about throwing the ball downfield. With his 4.9 yards an attempt and a total of only 4 of his 91 attempts going for more than 20 yardsm I wonder when he is going to take his own advice.

The reason he gets blitzed and people whine he gets no time to throw is because the defense doesn't respect his ability to throw downfield. They work hand in hand. If he actually did what he said he needs to do, it would take the pressure off him and give him more time to throw not less.

...because as we all know, Moore is a legend at throwing the deep ball.

In fairness, Moore is better at throwing the deep ball than Clausen.

Doesn't mean he's a better overall QB, but in that particular skill, Moore has the edge.

As far as the article, the part about how the games keep playing out the same way is telling (referenced in the "not smart enough" thread).

    • Right and I think we can have a conversation about that. But even with the scheme he should still be able to muster more than 1.5 sacks right? I mean DJ Johnson played in Evero's scheme too but that didn't stop us from calling him a bust. Scourton didn't seem to have trouble flashing. There can be different things true at one time.
    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
