What will it take for us to be a respectable football team again?

Fwiw, I think the whole Coaching staff will be gone at the end of the year. The defensive staff might be retained depending on who the new head coach is, but odds are we will totally revamped. While I don't necessarily blame the coaching staff for everything, a shakeup is necessary.

We have to bring in a free agent wide receiver, and a good one. Not someone we pick up cheap. Our rookies have some promise, and if Steve Smith was a little younger, we might be able to wait, but he is not.

We have to get Otah healthy and might need to upgrade some other Olinemen.

And we are going to have to sign a good QB, or draft another one. Moore will likely be gone next year, and Clausen hasn't shown anything yet.

On defense, we aren't that bad, probably need a defensive end to supplement Johnson and Hardy, along with a good tackle. Otherwise we are ok on defense.

Special teams, as good as Kasay is, we need to get someone who can both kickoff and kick fieldgoals.

So the new coaching staff is going to have a lot to do, but things aren't as bad as other coaching staffs have had to deal with coming in fresh.

I'm going to wait on bailing on our owner until after the lockout. It's a business move. Would you invest in something that took a year off? It would be idiotic to do so. Was he a bad owner in 2008? Let stop being so situational please.

That said Fox is a good coach, but we NEED offensive tools and he offers none. Lets get an offensive minded coach along with a new offensive coordinator. Basically a staff who can develop the QB position. I don't think we have ever had that. Let our QBs and WRs develop (remember they are rookies). I do think we need to draft a DT in the first round. The OL just need to get healthy, but we do NEED depth there. Lets keep Ron Meeks and the direction the defense is going; I really like it.

Edit: Forgot about Special teams. I've seen some good things in returns this year. Probably still need better coverage. We need to replace Kasay. This guy is epic, but is getting old. I think overall we are fine here.
