Veterans of 2001

let's be honest: you never saw him play did you

Yes, lol... To clear that statement up, I said those players as the guys I remember the fans as a whole being excited about for the future. I wanted to believe in Weinke but, I recognized fairly quickly he wasn't a 'winner.' I thought he was a stat filling loser.

In fact, IIRC, he led that team in rushing TDs right? Lol, that was like the only thing announcers would talk about each game towards the end of the season. Now that was sad.

I was a Dameyune Craig guy lol, I was like 16 though, so it doesn't count.

For those who have been fans long enough to have seen both the 2001 season and this one...

Which one would you consider more painful to watch?

honestly for me, neither

2009 was more painful. at that point we were mediocre and you knew it would be at least one more year before we would change regimes. At least now changes will come soon enough

2001 was much worse for me. I gave a poo the whole season, right now Im just watching for improvement and the first pick in the draft. Some of those games were horrible to watch too. So close, just to lose it some way in the end. The Wienke pass to the flat against washington to lose 14-7. Jesus.

I'll take this season over 2001. Mainly because while noone wanted to say it we all already knew this was a rebuilding year and that the odds were this team was going to surprise everyone and go on a role like the Falcons did after Vick or they were going to be dogs. No 8-8 season this year, it was great or horrible.

The 2001 team was suppose to be competative, and they were. They just couldn't get wins. But the one thing that makes the 2001 season worse in my opinion was how it started. This was suppose to be a team that could make a push for the playoffs and they come out in the first game and beat the Vikings who had just went to the NFCCG. After that game I really thought the Panthers would finally get back into the playoffs. The letdown after that game was worse than the letdown of this season.

And I do agree with the other poster, 2009 actually seems worse than 2001 or 2010. And it started with that home loss in the playoffs to the Cards.

This one, because my expectation level was higher going into this season then it was going into 2001 and because the events of 9/11 put a losing football season into perspective for me...

This may be really really bad to say, but the 2001 season we were in every game. Why fire Seifert? <cringes from backlash> With '01 we had hope each week that we might pull it out. This year its easily seen we all are wondering by how much we'll get blown out.

Side note: Anybody know if the game tomorrow will be carried locally?
