Fox says Clausen will start next week...(if healthy)

no fickleness here. i want the best. i don't want to be stuck with an inferior product just because he happens to be on the team. i don't want to stick with some guy just because we drafted him last year and we had no idea that we would be able to score the next great QB. i will not settle for 2nd best at any position. we need to constantly be trying to get better at every position.

if clausen had been here for a few years and was doing well, i might feel differently. but that isn't the case. he's only been here this year. no real vested interest in him. clausen can be a good QB. luck and be great. i want great.

btw...i want a vet QB in here as well. i want someone on the sidelines that can help the QB know what to look for out there. that is vital. it can help clausen fopr sure, but if we have a chance to get a better QB...we need to do it.

at this point college football 2009.... clausen's stats as a junior were much better than luck's are today. by the way, at this point last season there was only one game left for notre dame... stanford where clausen threw 5 td's.

my point is not to defend clausen's playing. it's to point out how fans always go for 'the next big thing'. sorry, luck has played 1 ranked team this year and he was beaten soundly. just because he is tall does not mean he can be great in the NFL. maybe he can, but i would much rather spend money on a veteran QB that can teach clausen than gamble with a new rookie. you are entitled to think the opposite.

It's 50/50 that we're in this position next year, Luck has done no better than Clausen and the next "great QB" is who the fans want.

Clausen won't be traded. Period. Just get the thought out of your head because it won't happen. If he plays like crap he won't be traded, if he lights it up he won't be traded, if he plays anywhere in between he won't be traded.

Normally I'd agree, but Clausen was drafted with a 2nd round pick, not a first. His salary isn't such that it'd cause a huge cap hit - assuming there's a cap - and the next coach might not be as tied to him as the current one (especially if it's Harbaugh).

Throw in that there's a West Coast Offense team pretty likely to be in the market for a young QB next season.
