Although Grimm may be on their list of candidates to interview, for some reason I just don't see it happening. JR had a lot of time to lay in bed and think about his mistakes. He rectified one mistake by firing his sons who should probably never been hired to the positions that they were. Why would he get rid of Fox to bring in another coach just like him? I don't see it.

Actually, Grimm is a pretty well known name in league circles. He's been one of the top HC candidates for a couple years now.

Not saying we should hire him, but JR's job is to win games.

Grimm would be a choice I support though I'd honestly rather go with someone young and fiery.

I do not have a huge problem going with an up and coming coordinator, I just don't know who... and I prefer Harbaugh right now.

there is nothing about his that says he can do the job. it's got nothing to do with him looking like jeff davidson. he is jeff davidson with a ring and a yellow coat. jeff davidson has actually had more responsibility than grimm coaching-wise. you want to improve an offense overall...you don't go to an Oline coach. if it wasn't for the fact that he is a HoFer, no one would be talking about him. he's just a poor choice.

i agree about the adam schefter speculation, but the rest of it...i've been poo pooing that idea for sometime now. there is nothing appealing about the idea of russ grimm as a coach. you aren't going to win with him anymore or anymore consistentl than we have with fox. seriously...he isn't a step up from fox, he's a step to the side and, quite possibly, a step backwards.

Since everyone else has a opinion on who should be drafted with that first pick that seems inevitable. And everyone seems to have an opinion of who should be head coach.

one of the things i hear the most about lil schotty is that he is an offensive genius and has an incredible playbook. the only problem is that it is very complicated and hard to learn and sometimes his offense goes over the tops of the jets players heads. rex has told him on numerous occassions to scale back the offense. sanchez has had to ask for it to be done as well. the jets offense is at it's best when it's much more simplified, but schotty likes to show his prowess as a offensive mind. a lot has to do with maturity. being a genius does no good if the guys you are working with can't grasp it. i just see him as making things too complicated. i also don't know much about how he works with players and coaches. one thing to consider, luck might be the ideal QB for schotty. luck is used to complicated schemes and is, according to harbaugh, pretty close to having a photgraphic memory and can recall complicated thoughts and gameplans quickly. he is probably the most intelligent QB to come out in a long time so that might work.

rob ryan...i am warming up to that idea. i still think we need to go offensive minded coach, but someone with his circle of influence could pull in a solid offensive mind to handle the OC job as well as solid coaches for other jobs. i like the guy a lot.

I LOVE when teams run the football and by nature love a great defense.

That said.

The NFL is changing and I wonder if a team can win the big one without a superstar QB at the helm.

thats the big issue for me. the league is changing and that is one of the reasons that coaches like fox are getting left behind. the old "run the ball, stop the run" philosophy is becoming an antiquated idea.

you have to have balance, but the offense has to be geared towards taking it to the air. the direction the team has been making the past couple years have been heading in that direction as well. goodson was brought in to be a receiver and then this year they spent 5 picks on guys that they hoped would be able to help the passing game. the defensive picks they made as well were fast guys that could help with the pass rush or help out in the secondary.

the team is going to be changing a lot in the very near future. i would say that it will be changing it's identity, but i would argue this team has no identity right now and won't until we have our new coach and this team forms its culture with him. this won't be a continuation of foxball anymore than foxball was a continuation of seifertball and seifertball was a continuation of capersball. this team went through significant changes in those transitions and this time will be no different.
