Darren Newsome asked him how does he stack up to the other WR's here? Basically asking him to poo talk his new teammates and Tmac said he wasn't going to answer the question.

yeah, that's a bad question.  Just ask him his strengths.

"Well, I'm about 1/3 of a second slower when chasing down racoons than XL, but I'm a little faster at skinning them."

Great interview. I like the kid a lot.

Also I did not initially realize the game tape remarks were back when he was a freshman in high school. I assumed with all the angst surrounding that this was when he was at least in college. Of all the things to criticize him for this is getting ridiculous.

I believe it was freshman in college?  That would put him around 19 years old.

He couldn't have responded much better to the question, though.

Yes.  If everyone’s assessed career trajectory was based on a thoughtless statement he or she made when they were 17/18 most folks (self included) would be in real trouble. I am dubious of this pick but it is the pick and want to be fair. Judging his or anyone’s character or work ethic based on a comment coming out of high school is completely unfair. He had the correct answer btw.

If XL cures his drops, this pairing will feed families.

Also really want mic‘d up content of XL talking to TMac. Would be pure comedy.

I feel like iron sharpens iron.  No way he doesn't learn a bit from T-Mac.  T-Mac is a plucker, not a framer.  Heard that on an interview somewhere.  He is going to be under immense pressure to improve now, and it will also take the heat off of him.  He benefits from this move as much if not more than Bryce does.

Mic'd up is going to be fantastic.  We have a lot of different personalities and accents here.  Thielen was already translating.  People bond through laughter.  I can't wait.

You could be right maybe I misheard but still at 18 or 19 years old we can give him some grace. We've all needed to do a little growing in those years of early adulthood that's life. Just listening to his background and upbringing you can tell his Mom especially didn't raise a deadbeat by any means. We just have to give him a chance to prove himself.

Already speaking like a locker room leader to me.  He keeps referencing history and the Polynesian people.  If he is not all talk, I think we will see great things from him.  He already seems to know our coaching staff and has voiced his faith in them as well.  Seems like a great fit.

    • The right answer is neither and drafting Maye with the #1 Pick of the 2024 Draft lmfao we traded away the #1 in a QB LOADED DRAFT
    • I have no idea why you are so irrationally upset about the notion that going out and spending $150 million free agency dollars on two interior offensive linemen could be construed as a panic response after our #1 pick we traded a fortune for had one of the worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years. It is objectively what transpired. Dan Morgan as of right now is a mixed bag. Some really good some so so some not so good some bad some really bad. You take any rational criticism personally like you are related to him or something. That's something you'll have to figure out for yourself. Anyways. The predicament Dan Morgan finds himself in for this year will define his future as GM. I sincerely hope he navigates it to perfection. But the circumstances are largely of his own creation. And not just in his stint as GM but going back to his time as assistant GM. Which conveniently people like yourself don't like to talk about. That is the reality of the situation. I like how you will carry water for Dan Morgan to the point of getting into random spats with people but make no mention of Bryce Young's glaring limitations and shortcomings as a starting QB yet go out of your way to put the onus of our struggles squarely on Canales. I mean I've been quite critical of Canales too but he sure isn't the only one to blame for our problems.
    • They weren't well thought out. We needed one, not both. 2 top center/guard candidates were going to be available in the 2nd. We would have been fine with JPJ or Frazier. Drafting either over XL or Brooks would have made perfect sense. Hell, drafting both would have made sense even if we had signed Lewis or Hunt. Instead we drafted a 1 year wonder project WR and a luxury RB that we didn't need since we had Hubbard. Draft IOL, pay tackles. Plenty of 2nd round guards and centers start immediately and play very well. Those 2 picks were not good then, now, no matter how much explaining anyone tries to do. Several of called it then.
