I'm not going to get toooverly invested in him. He played for one of the top passing offenses in college. 4th in yards and 2nd in passing tds and had 440 yds and 1 TD. He was their 4th receiver..

Be great if can repeat those numbers and be a returner here.

Panthers are going to have a problem that other teams have, there's only one ball.... All the 1st rounder WRs/others, TEs, and the 3 deep RB room..... I swear targets will be slim pickings weekly.

I like horn lots more after watching his routes, plus he's got the missing piece to the rec group- deep speed. Fact is he was the 208th pick in a weak draft, he was already on notice. I think he will be a team player this season and stick on the 53 with week of inactives mixed in with some 3recs 40 yards games.

Like the rock says "Know your role", I believe horn does and will happily wait his turn and do what's needed on ST. I feel etienne will win the main returner role, but horn should put up a good fight until the roster is set.

He feels like a Doug Baldwin the Panthers version.

But don't mind me, I am huffin the panther fumes and horn is one of my main targets to get high... I had to, cause I have no UDFA to champion this year.

He sure is getting a lot of love for a sixth rounder.  I see the potential.  I love our WR room now....Love it.  Love it more than a man should.

I am waiting for the focus to turn to Ransom--if you consider value and round, I am more excited about Princely and Ransom that I am any other picks.

I also like the TE room.  They are going to surprise some folks.

  • 3 weeks later...

I think Horn is probably going to be used as the primary PR to start the season, and maybe they will incorporate him into some jet sweeps, etc.

My hope is that he follows the Smitty path of being the returner and then getting incorporated into the rest of the offense.

Separation for the most part was still a major issue last year with our WRs.

Hopefully Horn can help with that in the long-term as well as adding much needed speed in general to the WR group

I think if he stays healthy, he'll be a stretch gadget guy.  If teams are sitting on short and intermediate routes, throw horn out there for a series or 2 to run fly routes, it'll only take bryce hitting on one to loosen the defense some.

probably horn and etienne will end up with the majority of return duties.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
