Jadeveon Clowney upset about being released

I don't think its anything deeper than cap savings.  We are very tight in terms of cap space.

And cutting Clowney saves more than just about anyone else we could reasonably cut on the dline.

That being said, I am a little concerned that we are going to be relying so much on unproven rookies.

I mean, if Clowney was playing lights out, an edge making $10m is a bargain.  He would not be upset if there were other teams with open wallets waiting to give him a 2-3 year deal.  He was a stop gap, and now our developmental talent needs some sunlight.  If Clowney were to stay and have a good year, he is a 33-year old free agent.  If our two draft picks get a combined 12-15 sacks, then you know that they got more production at the edge position for less money and we are building.  Clowney has flashed.  He is a great specimen and tremendous football player.  His mindset is not a dawg, however.

I wouldn't even call him a tremendous football player. He was a guy way overdrafted and way overpaid for years when he had the allure of "potential". Now that that's gone he's just been getting treated like the JAG that he is.

Yea safe to say journeyman rotational edge rusher wasn’t what they were hoping for out of the first overall pick.

Great move Dan Morgan......dudes feeling himself too much. "I feel like I played well"

5.5 sacks don't cut it IMO for a starting OLB/edge.

Like most I would rather the hungry younger players get after it instead.

To be fair, he was basically the only non-PS level player on our roster at DE/EDGE for the majority of the season.

Wonnum and Patrick Jones as the vets/mentors in the room is concerning. Not much else in FA left either.
