One of the safeties would honestly make the most sense. Ramsey is the big splash name but a plug and play decent starting safety is a bigger need than a 30 year old mega money CB. Especially after we just made Horn the highest paid DB on the league.

Richardson looked pretty last year, especially as a UDFA, and I like Ransom's potential. BUT, I would love to bring in a Safety with a little more experience. Either Blackmon or Williams would be a great get and allow our youngsters time to mature.

In your scenario for all this to work is for him to not only play like a top 10ish corner and assuming he would redo his original deal if we didnt want to out right cut him.  Yeah man I dont think extending a 32 year old corner is in our cards especially when the average age of a nfl corner is 27.  That just doesnt make sense no matter how well one thinks he is playing.

All in all like you say its all assumptions and hypotheticals but I really dont see morgan doing this after everything he has said and done about bad contracts

First off you don’t “redo deals” if you extend someone you can spread out their cap hit, which is something Morgan  and company has don’t repeatedly; along with every other 31 front offices. Also I’m getting very confused why you continually refer to him as a 32 year old corner and reference him as a one year rental. By your logic he would play next season at 31, then atleast one more season at 32. So by your own logic he is at minimum a two year starting corner. Listen if reports came out the Dolphins were trying to get first or second round pick I would be completely against it. But by all accounts the Dolphins are in a vulnerable cap situation and need to offload some players to stay under the cap and it’s rumored the asking price for Jalen is only around a 3rd. Research suggests the average third round pick career length is 3 years, and even basing it off your own logic we could have a top 15 corner for a minimum of two seasons. You do that deal all damn day man, every move every aspect of roster construction is a risk but this is a pretty reasonable risk to take man.

He will be 32 oct of next year.  And the choice as of now is play him at this current contract for this season, see how he plays and then decide to opt out, restructure or keep playing on the existing deal.  I see only 1 of those options viable, opt out after 2025 no matter how he plays and then try and resign him.   But by all accounts he is a headcase currently eye balling his 5th team.   Why would he want to come here initially and why would he resign here if we opted out of his deal?

He turns 31 in Oct.   He has an out after this season.  If he stays on his current contract its at 25 million per and he would turn 32 during that season

You dont pay 32 year old corners 25 million dollars.  So in all likelihood its a one year rental.

Or a restructure.  Nobody is paying him $25M a year at this point

I would think the team would view this a one-year deal with the option of maybe negotiating something further.

There's still a significant chance Evero is gone after this season also which could lead to more inevitable changes.

So the ultimate question to me is does the team think there is enough upside for this season to trade for him.

I say yes, but I completely understand the argument against it as well.

I think you might need to check his contract again. We would have his contract rights for the next three seasons with him playing at ages (31-33). Also just to be clear this would be his 4th team not his 5th, (Jaguars-Rams-Dolphins). Ima be honest man I think you gotta research this information a bit more. “Why would he want to come here initially” I mean from a literal sense it’s not his choice, whoever the Dolphins deal him to is up to the best offer available. Secondly, I think having coaching familiarity with Evero would be something that works on both sides.

So under that scenario the panthers would void the deal after 2025 season and he could simply walk.  Seems like a pricey gamble for a 4rth or 5th round pick.  And thats not even considering we cant afford him status quo.

I’m saying I would hope they’d at least have talks with his agent to know if they’re in the same ballpark for an extension before making the trade. It’s all a risk but especially they think they can resign him a 4th or 5th rder doesn’t seem like that much to risk when the upside is a pro bowl player with years of good football left at a position/positions(FS possibly later) of need
