Right now the floor is a basketball team worth watching and rooting for.

It's how long that statement remains true that is the problem every year.

Last year it was 15 games. The year before 20 games.  The year before that, they didn't make it to Halloween.

The problem with Borrego is that development you speak of amounted to one step forward two steps back more often than not. And when we got to any playoff atmosphere that development went right out the window.

The mistake was firing him and having absolutely no answer except running it back with Clifford. That was a horrible decision obviously.

For me I don't think this franchise is going to fire and hire their way into being competitive and relevant again. Lee needs to show improvement this upcoming season. But your argument of firing him now while running cover for Borrego doesn't make much sense sir.

He won 39 games his first year. Then we made the correct decision and let our franchise player walk. Obviously that comes with a step back and a rebuild.

23 wins in a COVID shortened season

33 wins

43 wins then fired. He was building a competive basketball team with an incompetent owner and was fired because we got butt fuged in the play in

I liked James on a personal level. I still do. But he had his flaws too and what's done is done. Charles Lee will get this season to showcase what he's building. If he and the team look like poo he should be on a very hot seat. But I don’t expect that to happen. I could be wrong. But I'd rather not be in this instance. Regardless. At some point we're going to be lucky to hire anyone worth a damn if we keep firing coaches. It's not something any of us should want to see because it's only going to mean yet another reset. Best case scenario is Lee with this infusion of youth establishes a refreshing culture change. We'll see.

This team is deep:

G - Ball, Mann, Simpson

G - Sexton, Knueppel, McNeeley, Smith

F - Miller, Connaughton, Green, Okogie, James

F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun

C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee

The secret is if they can stay on the floor.  If Ball ever decides to play 60 games, with Bridges, Miller, and potentially improved shooting from Sexton/Knueppel, etc. I see improvement.  I personally like the Plumlee acquisition--he plays hard and is pretty durable--good depth, as you say.  I also approve of the players they let go, in general.  Not a huge fan, but want to be---if their season were not over by December.

The guys they added all seem to be hardworking players so hopefully that rubs off on the rest of the team.

Or as equally likely they all take on the I don't give a fug attitude of the franchise player and become too cool to work hard

This isn’t Kon’s setting so much but the rest of the guys look amazing.  Kon right now looks a misfit athletically.  He is a role player at least for a few years.  The team tonight is playing D which is so refreshing.

Our picks after Kon look so good

Kon looks like trash. I know it's just game 1 of summer league

Other than his shots not falling tonight he's been fine. Considering how improved Salaun looks after how often people have labeled him a bust and a wasted pick maybe we should let Kon play another game or two before declaring him a bust lol

I have to admit this as well.  He is a shooter that plays off structured sets.  This isn’t his setting but he is very young and has plenty of time\room to grow

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
