He called XL a second-round pick.  Sloppy.

In fairness, we have a #1 WR from 2024 that underperformed and dropped passes in key situations that, ironically, allowed the Panthers to have a higher draft pick to select his replacement as the #1 WR.  The New #1 WR is unproven and a rookie.  AT is aging, Renfrow is coming off a serious illness that caused him to be inactive for a season or two, Coker is an undrafted overachiever with a limited ceiling (I hate saying that--he could become very good), Horn is a sixth rounder with high expectations--but I honestly think they are all flying under the radar.

Lazy journalism.  good 2024 teams at top, bad 2024 teams at bottom.

I didn’t say it was new, I said it was silly to put one blanket statement over everybody, and if you insist on calling them lotto picks then it’s dumb to act like they are all the exact same odds, and that you have to apply the logic to everybody. And you keep leaving out my whole point about this “proven 1000 yd receiver”. 1000 yd receiver who’s 31yr old, been on the downswing since 2022, and coming off a major knee injury. And I’ve talked about 2 Panthers RBs and Tmac from the word go so you make up a list of 3 that only includes 1 of them when the list in question is not even a ranking of “big 3’s”. I mean you are clearly just ignoring everything I’m saying and picking whatever makes the Panthers look worst just to die on whatever hill you’re on so you do you. The list is dumb, I’m sorry you like it more than I do.

I’m saying I get why national folks would rank the Panthers skill position players rank low present day.   Which is all this is.   Using a big 3 was just simplifying the reasoning for the discussion.  It s not my list but I totally get a national list playing out that way

Gonna be a lot of folks eating CROW when season over!!!  When the dust settles Gonna see BY steooing up between those Hog Mollies and field is open as we saw at end of last season.  Our Receivers can only be as good as Their QB.  Brown and Brown connection libel to be as good as there is in NFL Out House to Pent House for defense!!  Go Panthers

It's pretty much impossible to predict our group right now because we're so reliant on young, unproven players. A ton of rookies and second year players heavy in our rotation.

This ^^^^ this group is talented enough to rank MUCH higher but its a ton of youth

Honestly think we'll wind up having a top 10 skill position group. Hopefully that along with OL and decent coaching will have Bryce looking like the franchise QB we all hoped he would be.

Your words to the good lords ears. Here’s to you, the season of hope known to most as the off-season.

Lol I actually don't have much hope for the team this season. I think the D will be a mess and Bryce will suck again. Hopefully I'm extremely wrong on both of those counts but I don't think OL and skill group strengths will be enough for the team results to show up. I do think it's possible we're on the right track in building this team up, but I suspect we'll need a new QB and just more time to add young talent to the D.

If Bryce sucks, 2025 is going to be a long season. I saw enough during the latter part of last year, and I think Bryce is smart enough to and works hard enough, that I'll give him a 5.5 to 6 out of ten on my confidence meter (and trending up). I hope that he continues to move that needle up in September.

Bryce ended last season at least 10x better than his play pre-benching. But that's mainly because of how truly atrocious he was in year 1 and at the beginning of last year. Like just flat out mind bogglingly bad for a 1st overall pick. Sure Reich and the team around him were a shitshow too, but Bryce started out even worse than Clausen was.

His play after the benching showed me he can be an NFL QB, but still very very few hints of the potential to be a legit top tier franchise QB and a guy who can win a SB in anything other than a 2000 Ravens or 2017 Eagles type season where the D is that insanely good, or everything else goes right as in the Eagles case, for example.

I just don't see Bryce being anything more than an efficient game manager at his peak. Nothing about his game says to me that he'll be a player that other teams actually try to game plan for. Could that be enough for us? Maybe, but I would strive for better and would not want to give that type of QB a 2nd contract. We'll see how he does this year with a legit OL, seemingly decent offensive coaching (and consistency there with the staff returning), and now a possible top skill position group too (yes the WRs and TEs are young or coming off injuries but the talent is there and a lot has been invested in the positions). In my view there are no more excuses this year and it's time for him to really put up or shut up.

5.5-6 out of 10 seems pretty fair, I'd still go lower like 3-3.5, but it was at a negative 10 when he got benched so certainly trending up going into this season.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
