It didn’t even feel like a real game. Not at any point did I feel, ‘now this is a football game’ feel. It was like watching the last Tyson fight. It was the Von Miller and refs show. I still feel cheated. 2003… I never felt cheated. I still rewatch that game. Greatest football game I’ve ever seen.  I’ve never rewatched the 2015 game.

We can’t have nice things.

Still hurt the only time we made it to the NFC Champioship game we had a dilapidated team that pretty much had no chance against the Seahawks.
2005 still hurts. That team was going to the Super Bowl then Delhomme Delhommed

I have watched it a few times. Maybe I am a masochist, but I just find the game fascinating.
It is a master-class in “What can go wrong will.”  Panthers defense came to play and the offense was not nearly as bad as a lot of people remember. It was just that every time we gained momentum something stupid would happen.

The No-Catch, which I feel would have jump started the offense if it had of been rule a completion.
Gano field goal miss after a strong drive to begin the second half.
Cam’s tip interception after a 42 yard pass that set us up in Broncos territory.
Tolbert uncharacteristic fumble after he was gashing the Broncos defense.
Defense played very well but could not capitalize on some good opportunities like they did during the season.

It is such a weird, weird game.

For me… it’s still on sight with Mr Clete “Bronco fan” Blakeman.

Couple of other things that I remember even though I never rewatched the game:

Play after the cotchery catch (because yes it was a fuging catch) was the strip sack fumble 6.

Can’t remember which broncos defender left early/ jumped offside on the missed field goal but it wasn’t called.

Aqib Talib (seriously fug that guy forever) getting beat by Philly brown so bad that he grabbed his face mask and yanked it like he was trying to break his neck. We got the penalty for it, but honestly he should have been thrown out of the game.

Can’t remember which drive but I remember ginn running out of bounds when he seemingly had space to gain another 5-10 yards on a drive where we didn’t score.

Kony Ealy would have likely been the Super Bowl MVP had we won which sounds absurd to say since he basically disappeared from the face of the earth after that game

That Ginn play was what made be start to dislike him. It was cowardly and lazy. Even the commentators were confused when he ran out of bounds.

The whole team seemed to be in a funk that game. At the end of the day I think the Super Bowl week and everything that came with it paired with the coaching staff stubbornly refusing to make any significant changes for their opponent was a perfect storm of circumstances that is exactly how you lose a Super Bowl. When you add the refs and the league blatantly trying to get Peyton Manning a walk off into the sunset ring it's a wrap. We needed someone with attitude willing to fight back. I wish we had 89 just for that one game. I think the result would have been different. He wouldn't have let that bullshit fly. He may have gotten himself ejected in the process. But it would have lit a fire under the rest of the team. Just my opinion.

That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.

Panthers were the favorites and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destroying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, not many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that defense took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.

Yeah the Broncos defense that year was ridiculously talented no doubt. Still for how good they were we were in the game late into the fourth. Manning was a horrid passer. But we needed to try and match the intensity. The only guy we had coming close to that was Kony Ealy and that's a sad indicator. At the same time it was plainly obvious the refs were not going to give us even an inch. I haven't been as passionate about football since that game and the 2016 season opener where the league openly allowed headhunting was the final straw. The league never wanted us to win it all and they sent that message loud and clear. Sadly our owner at the time was loyal to the league to a fault even until the very end when they ousted him before Snyder. Now we're stuck with the Tepper's. Man........
