give some props to Andy Dalton

Recommended Posts

was reading Darin Gantt this week and he noted these stats

"Andy Dalton is 26th on the all-time passing yards list (39,500), ahead of Hall of Famers Jim Kelly, Steve Young, YA Tittle, Troy Aikman, and many more.

He's also 26th on the all-time touchdown pass list (253), and the next one he throws ties him with Dan Freaking Fouts (254). He grew up in Texas idolizing Aikman, and has about 90 more touchdowns than the former Cowboys Hall of Famer (165)."

pretty nice having him for a back up.  Hope he wants to play another year or two

He's a great guy. In his prime he was a respectable starter. But now at this stage of his career he is an awful QB. This lip service is ridiculous.

He's not a starter but he's completely fine as a backup still. Top 50 QB in the league EASILY.

Soon to be 37 in the fall 0-4 career playoff record. Actually when you get down to it he is a very fitting "mentor" for our own QB for all the wrong reasons considering we're still looking to end our own drought going on 8 years now.

Bruh we need to open the huddle to rival fans again. This echo chamber poo is officially out of pocket.

Imagine typing this with a straight face.

That means he is an average backup depending on the use of the word “easily”. All 32 starters are clearly better, but are more than 18 backup QBs better? It’s not that much of a stretch to say that IMO.

Look I've been trying to be delicate but this entire thread is nothing more than an exercise in vigorous turd polishing.

I'm perfectly willing to participate in optimistic discourse regarding our young players but what's going on with aging Andy Dalton is homerism gone wild. He is objectively bad. Plain and simple. And he was such in his final season with the Saints. In one game against the Cardinals that season he threw 2 pick sixes. He was very bad last season after that mirage of a win against the Raiders. It is what it is.

Ok the first paragraph made me laugh. You think he is washed and I understand it. I just don’t think it’s outlandish for someone to think he is in the top 50 in the league. It’s not really a compliment but just means he is an average backup. I’d put him in the Joe Flacco category personally. Old starter with tons of experience that can come in and run your offense if needed, but not someone you want playing more than 3 games or so.
