Around the NFL

This smells of BS. TBH, the whole story smelled of them trying to duck his contract.

Fair amount of independent corroboration of his behavior issues, if not these specific incidents (unknown on that front).

Well, I think this will be the start of me dropping NFL. But I allow to see how it goes, just feels like the end of me investing time following my favorite team.

This consensus that Arch is gonna be this surefire #1 overall prospect is pretty wild to be honest.

How is it wild? He’s a Manning. And a much less physically talented Quinn Ewers looked pretty good at times in Sarkesian’s offense. Manning could be mediocre for one year as a starter and still go #1 overall on pedigree alone.  But I expect he will put up some good stats next year.

Can't recall anyone who has carried this much hype for so long based on name alone. Not being able to supplant Ewers is a big red flag IMO. Ewers was a good college QB, but I would expect a future #1 overall pick to send him to the bench, especially as a sophomore. Maybe not as a freshman but after a year to get his feet wet at the college level if he's anywhere near his hype level then not playing him over Ewers last year was a huge mistake.

If Trubisky can go 2, Lance 3, and Zach Wilson 2 then its not a stretch to think Manning will likely be 1

I would say the argument isn't that he won't be picked highly, necessarily. But will this be another manufactured "generational" prospect?

I will say given the hype train that has been with Arch so far, it's very unlikely he will be able to live up to it.

Panthers games will still be free in the local market, so it won't impact that. I will say that if the NFL is damned and determined to make it as difficult and expensive as possible to watch their product outside of local broadcasts, I am likely going to opt to pirate or abandon further attempts to follow ALL the NFL.

It's not hard with a fantastic Hurricanes team and a finally Jordan free and seemingly logical Hornets franchise.

All the major sports leagues are.  It's really stupid.  You have to subscribe to like 10 streaming services to watch every game (including the relevant league pass)

They're just trying to suck all the money out of the fans, but they will kill fan enthusiasm eventually.  Who's going to take our place when you have to pay a premium fee to even watch the games?  Sports can't be successful without an audience.  We won't be around forever.

    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
    • Dude he didnt play in pre season.....  he didnt practice at all with the team until the end of October.    I do agree though.
    • Bryce had a hand in the Miami win but not nearly as large of one as Rico and he also had the extra burden of being a big reason we were in the hole in the first place. If we get a winning season he is definitely back for next year though.
