#Panthers attendance notes for second padded practice:

Pat Jones II, Hunter Renfrow & Mike Jackson (again) in street clothes.

No Chandler Zavala (expected).

Will keep an eye on Derrick Brown, who is out here but had “general soreness” yesterday (not in his knee — don’t worry).

In 7s work. Chau Smith-Wade jumps a button-hook run by Xavier Legette and nearly picks off Bryce Young, but can’t hang on. Great anticipation on the ball nonetheless.

Bryce Young does an excellent job of stepping up in the pocket, fires at McMillan and it’s dropped with Thornton in coverage. I think that’s TMac’s first legit drop of practice. He’s been pretty much automatic otherwise (no one will read this last sentence, I’m sure).

Ja’Tavion Sanders catches a TD pass on the goal line against Jaycee Horn. Horn complains of a push off (no call). Sanders spins the ball in front of the defense on the sideline. A member of the defense picks the ball up and throws it at Sanders.

Hunter Renfrow (hamstring) was held out today, along with Mike Jackson (toe) and Pat Jones (illness). 

All seem reasonably minor. Canales said Renfrow told him he'd have played this week.

WR Hunter Renfrow tweaked a hamstring and CB Mike Jackson sprained his toe. Neither injury is considered serious. Dave Canales said if there was a game this week he could play.

Pat Jones has a respiratory issue.

Canales says that Jaycee Horn punted the ball after he made an INT today. That explains Chuba Hubbard’s punt after his rushing touchdown today.

Canales on the competitiveness: We can’t have that because of penalties … then he smiles … “but I kind of like it.”

Bryce earned that scrutiny. Yes,he showed up after the benching but this is a huge prove it year for him. No one wants him to bust but a lot of people don't fully believe in him yet.

I've been low-key keeping that kicker battle in the forefront. There certainly seems to be more misses than I'm used to (hell, Joe Person feeling the need to clarify), but it is practice, and I guess the skinny posts are skinny for a reason.

There could be a better name, by the way. What about "precision posts?"
