CLT is top 2-3 in the US for awful drivers. It's insane.

Yup. Born and raised in Charlotte. Now that I'm older Kannapolis is the better living option. And even then Charlotte drivers are slowly making their way here unfortunately. With that crime and insane overdevelopment Charlotte has just become a nightmare.

I've seen some bad drivers in Charlotte, but Baltimore (where traffic lights and signs are just a soft recommendation), DC (where it's kill or be killed - don't ever get caught in a circle, you'll be fighting for your life) and Manhattan (I saw a taxi with a bar on the front fender literally move a car out of his way in traffic) are much worse. Like on a different level of crazy!

NY and Boston easily the worst driving in the country IMO.  DC area traffic is terrible and up there.  But Boston is vehicular combat.  A turn signal is a threat to people's existence up there.

And in NYC people parallel park by running into each others cars.  Its crazy.

#1 thing i would do if i had the money...hire a driver. i'd rather be able to spend my time doing other things. 

when i retire, i thought about buying a camper, but i think i would want someone to drive it for me. i want to be able to relax. driving those things around wouldn't do it.

Lest “they should hire drivers” keep being subjected to absolutely insane interpretations, here’s a few thoughts I have on the subject:

1. There is value in a professional who is better trained and more emotionally detached.

2. These athletes bodies are their livelihood and they should mitigate risk wherever possible and/or reasonable. For somebody making as much as Jaycee Horn, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, I personally think hiring a driver would be a reasonable expense.

3. There is value in riding in the back of a car designed for such purposes, as opposed to the drivers seat where you can get forcibly hit in the face, chest, shoulders, and arms by a drivers air bag during a minor collision. Those air bags are designed to save lives during major collisions but they can easily do more harm than good during minor ones, especially when a torn rotator, fractured orbital, cracked ribs, concussion, any of the common airbag injuries could be career altering for these guys.

4. It shouldn’t need to be said that nobody thinks hiring a driver makes anybody immune to car accidents.

I don’t make anything close to what these athletes do and have contemplated it myself. I really never understand when I see the photos/videos of some of these top paid guys rolling into camp, game days, etc. personally driving their own vehicles.

Seems like it’s getting pretty bad everywhere. Doesn’t help that there’s different rules everywhere and places where it’s more dangerous to follow the actual law. I forget the name of the highway around Miami but I’ve driven it a few times and if you don’t go like 90 you’re in actual danger and causing a hazard for others. Or some places at 4-way stop lights U-turn yields to right turns and other places right turns yield to u-turns and now everybody is confused every time and it’s a cluster fug. And then there is zero requirement for anybody to prove any sort of competence on an ongoing basis to drive.

The interstate that connects NYC to Connecticut is like that.  It's like a NASCAR track.  Even the cable guy is doing 85+.

I would rather Baltimore or Manhattan personally. I will say the most insane was Lake Charles, LA. That place was straight looney toons. Almost everyone I knew working there while I was down there had been hit by someone running a red light. I genuinely never touched the gas on a green light, you were bound to see some mush mouthed swamp Frenchie blow straight through the red seconds afterwards doing way over the speed limit. Never seen anything like that place.

I will say OH/MI drivers take the cake for driving in the rain. I have never seen the amount of wrecks in just regular rain that I do in those areas.

Boston people are nuts when it comes to combative driving. They are actively seeking confrontation. 

Same with their retarded sports fans.

      No. Physical tools alone aren't enough. There are plenty of examples of draft busts to support that. Aost all of them had the physical tools and that wasn't enough. But Bryce is a perfect example of the opposite. Absolutely elite intangibles aren't enough either. If you simply don't have the physical abilities all the football intelligence and work ethic in the world won't be enough to overcome it. Just look to the sidelines every Sunday. We call those people "coaches".

      As much as I despise Billy B, his philosophy on QBs is how I would approach things if I were a GM. You always keep looking for your next starter.  He has Bledsoe, who got injured and his backup ended up being the GOAT. Even while he had that going, he kept getting his next guy and developing them. When Brady got hurt, Cassel stepped in and went 11-5 and they missed the wild card by dumb luck. Who knows how far they would have gone if they had gotten in. Jimmy Gs career started in NE. There were others, but he always kept looking.  You can't be afraid to keep looking for your next starter, but it looks like we're afraid to look for more than a marginal one. If you're going to offer a $25m contract with incentives, that screams marginal QB. It also screams you're just a transition until we find our guy. After a 10 or 11 win season, he's not accepting that offer. And then you're in a Daniel Jones situation. Do you pay for a year of success and pray it wasn't a one year wonder?  To this point, Bryce has really produced nothing, yet for whatever reason, our FO has not even sniffed at the idea that we need a real QB room with real QBs. Dalton was never starter potential, Plummer was a joke. KP certainly isn't, neither is Grier.  Our approach to the QB room needs to be one of strength not fear. Bring in guys who can compete or who you think can compete. This is THE elite position, in an elite sport, paid premium salary, where production matters. Either you produce or you can lose your job. It's not mean, it's just the reality of the position.  And I'm really just tired of our candy ass approach to it.

      If you plug Bryce onto the Pro Bowl roster you might have a chance to compete for a SB. If he's surrounded by top tier talent with a top tier defense on the other side, a field flipping punter, and a kicker good from 60+ you might have a chance. But that means you basically have to recreate Saban's Bama in the NFL and that's impossible... and Bryce couldn't win a championship in that environment either. What the Panthers didn't realize when they got so obsessed with his "PG mentality" was that what they were looking st was a "barely checks the box PG". The basketball equivalent of Bryce would be an undersized PG with marginal athleticism who can make the basic plays but adds nothing to the team in terms of elevating the overall team. Not a great shooter, not a great defender, not a great driver. Just a guy who can basically get you into the offense and be a matador on defense. Basically a placeholder while you look to upgrade the PG position.
