Well wallow in your misery together, I guess. I think Dan has made some nice moves since taking over and we seem headed in the right direction. Rebuilt OL/WR rooms and now DL seems on the uptick.

I’ll just let y’all go on pretending the extension $ would magically net us a Penei Sewell-caliber RT this offseason.

I don't really think that's the trade though.  That money can be spent on anything.  We have to decide to pay Icky.  We could have let Moton walk next summer and draft his replacement.  Icky could slide over and play right side maybe.  There was flexibility.  Now we have a gajillion dollars in our offensive line, on a roster that's depleted basically everywhere else.  And we're depending on a guy past 30 to stay healthy for 2 years so it's worth it?  It just doesn't seem like a good move from a risk management perspective.

While basically not practicing. These things usually continue progressing as long as the guy keeps playing. Do you really think grappling with other jumbo super athletes for 60 minutes once a week is improving chronic knee issues? Let's just be realistic here.

He will get some improvement with his knees once he stops playing and sheds 75 pounds. As long as he keeps playing and carrying 300+ pounds they're gonna keep getting worse. That's just the reality of life for a biological creature.

Nah man, they are shot for life. I'm down almost 100 from my weight in school and my knees suck so bad.

He's a top 5/6 RT in the league. Base it on stats, advanced metrics..etc

He's top 5 for most I would think.

It can go that way too. Mine aren't so great either. Both of my MCLs are gone and both should probably be scoped to clean up some floating cartilage issues. I was told by a sports medicine doctor a decade ago that I'll probably have to have at least one knee replacement by the time I'm 50. I'm 43 now but honestly they're holding up better than I expected. The first hour or so of the day sucks but once I get limbered up I'm alright. Either that or I'm just used to it. LOL

This seems like the type of thread that receipts will be kept lol

but this is a business and the business move would’ve been to wait and see what this season looks like for him. Sucks for him, but that process is likely the best for the franchise IMO. Guess we’ll just have to see how it plays out.

someone put the fitterer laser eyes on dan real quick so we can officially take the next step in the tepper panthers staff cycle (half joking)

Both mine are shot, they barely move the first couple hours of the day and my right knee will still pop and give out at least twice a day. My right knee got twisted and partially dislocated... so oh well, ish happens

Do you consider Icky a better OT than Moton? I don’t think anyone does.

Our roster is not depleted everywhere but OL. Our WR room has nice young pieces. Our RB room is sufficient for years. Our interior DL is in nice shape and now we have promising young EDGE players. We’re certainly operating like QB is set as well.

The only thing I’ll concede is the timing doesn’t make great sense unless there are some moves in the pipeline that require current cap space.

I agree with this on timing unless we make a move soon.

Do I think that going forward Icky will be a better RT than Moton?  I would honestly take that chance.  Its possible Moton is an all star until he's 37, but I wouldn't bet on it.

That’s a reasonable argument. I won’t put that level of play out of reach for Icky yet, but he’s certainly far from being considered a top 10 LT at this point in his career. Hopefully he’ll get there.

Moton is in the top 5-10 range for RTs. We’ll most likely be paying him like he’s top 10-15 once that contract hits next year. Not bad imo.

Supposedly we have like $19 mil in cap already available. If we are having to "clear" cap space for a move......this does not sound good. This sounds like the prelude to a panic move.

We are going to doing something stupid like trading next years 1st for Hendrickson and then drop 150 million on him.

He's 6th in APY and first in GPY.

    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
    • it's not so much this personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers as it is more about Bryce Young never not once been in the same conversation with the top 15 or even top 20 Qbs in the NFL ..just saying
