Agreed.  I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Dan and Dave are getting a restart button if this year crashes and burns.  Should they?  Maybe just to rebuild the reputation of the org, depending on how bad it really is.  But all indications are Tepper throws them out of a helicopter before any of that.  Alright now who wants the job next?

Dan gonna be on cracked thin ice in season.  People still somehow erase he was Fitterer's right hand man.  Fitterer was making decisions off of info coming up to him.   Dan painted as the random mythical creature that some how disagreed w/ everything being done.

Canales had zero resume.  You can't keep giving a coach time when there is no reason to.  If things go bad this year.....you can't pretend like you just hired Dan next year.   The window to move on from Bryce was last year.  He botched it.  Now, Bryce he is tied to Bryce.

The biggest issue with Tepper shopping for new GMs and HCs is that we are stuck shopping in the garbage bin and I think he found that out in the last go round. Anyone with other options simply didn't want to consider the Panthers until other options were exhausted. And I don't think simply outbidding the other owners is an option. Pretty sure Dave got a stern talking to after landing Rhule simply by offering a contract that the Giants weren't willing to touch.

I was interested in Hooker during his draft year but man he looked like poo this preseason. That Tennessee offensive system really does nothing to prepare the players for the NFL

Gonna be interesting to see how that works out for them in the NIL/portal era.  Not sure high level NFL prospects are going to want to sign up.

Potential candidates need to believe they will get a fair shake if they take the job.

They were both clearly hired on the premise that they'd try to rescue Young.

It honestly sounds like things behind the curtain need to change. Good guys got a look and refused to continue thr process. They need to change up how they manage the team is my take. These guys have had 2 years and still have a losing season lined up with a DC coming off of a historically bad D.

Yep. Tepper has shown a very quick trigger finger on coaches and I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a reputation of him being very heavy handed in terms of his input on personnel decisions when it matters to him.

Not exactly a situation that folks with options are gonna be chomping at the bit for.

Yeah I don't personally have much faith in this regime, but we can't reset every season.  It's a tough call with the Frank Reich fug up.

Tepper needs to see himself all the way out of football decisions. Tepper the businessman would've already fired Tepper the VP of Panthers Football Operations several times already. He needs to look himself on the mirror and see that and do that.

I don't buy that.  They buried Bryce Young for dead 2 games into the season.   That always read like an agreed upon deal w/ they hired the chunk ball downfield OC.

Carolina just screwed it up.....they left the door cracked and a literal miracle occurred for Bryce that no one saw coming.  Wasn't great but it fugged up the plan.  That's why I equate it to the second worst botching under Tepper.   The first was the botched in season tank job that blew up in Tepper's face.

Agree to disagree.

Neither was the most qualified candidate on the market that offseason.

Both conceded to Tepper's demands to try and rescue Young in return for a job as an NFL HC and GM.

They screwed it up when they traded the world for Young - but anyone with a brain knew that.

Amen. What will it take is the question. If it can happen in SF then there is always hope he will get tired of being an embarrassment.

    • I believe I just read somewhere that the Rams don't do Top 30 Visits. I mean, it makes sense from the standpoint of trying to keep information close to the vest.
    • I'm not sure 19 is too high for Rodriguez anymore.  He looks to be moving up boards, but it could be smokescreens.
    • I see XL this way---great athlete.  Good person.  When we drafted him, we knew he was raw.  One year of WR in college (starting) and in HS, he was a QB, I believe. We knew we would need patience with him.  I think year 3 will be make or break.  He is older, and I think that people with his athletic ability have always been better than those with less---but those with less can become more successful.  Why is that?  in my view, it is mental. XL can learn the mechanics and nuances of playing WR if he becomes focused on it and works at it.  I had the opportunity to talk to Armanti Edwards one day after OTAs (great guy) and he discussed how overwhelming it was.  He seemed shocked.  At that time, I knew that Fox hated the pick (I heard him mock Armanti to another coach when he saw Edwards drop a punt from a jugs machine--then I saw Armanti look back at Fox as if to suggest that he was feeling the pressure to please the coach. We forget that these are kids in their early 20s.  At the time, Fox was a lame duck.  Remember when he had Clausen as the #3 QB and was forced to move him up the ladder?  I liked Fox, but I think the climate and culture was influenced by the politics.  Currently, I see another Wr from SC who is struggling, but he is ina  very nurturing, positive culture. Let's see what happens with XL.  I am frustrated too---but XL was a second round talent who was raw and we traded up to get him.  He had 500 yards as a rookie--lets call 2025 a sophomore slump and see if we can't get at least 50 yards per game out of him.  If not, cut bait.
