  1. 1. Where does Bryce rank on the all-time draft bust list?

    • The biggest draft bust in the history of the NFL, considering the assets and picks we gave up to draft him.

I said it leading up to the draft that I have no idea what the evaluators are looking at when they watch this guy on a college field and translate that to elite QB prospect. He checked zero physical boxes and nothing about his play stylistically translated.

I said that in the lead up to the draft. Said no way you can take him top 5-10. He had happy feet issues at Alabama, he had to play off schedule. Small frame, small height, adequate arm strength, couldn't process at the line well. Just never got how he was considered QB 1 in that draft. I think I had him 4th or 5th.

Walker, Wilson, and Watson were 10x worse.

It's not even the worst panther trade, Id say Gilbert has that crown.

2 firsts, 2 seconds, plus DJ Moore (top 15 WR in the NFL) for a small and slight framed QB who can't process the line, has happy feet, and at best an adequate arm...

That's way worse than the Gilbert trade and it's not even close.

It's at least the worst Panthers trade by far.

I don’t see how you can say that they don’t matter.  We gave up a haul and the 1st rounder became the 1st overall pick the following year.  It’s a tragedy.

Because that doesnt have any impact on the fact that he was widely expected to succeed in the NFL and he shouldnt even be a back-up.  Someone was going to take him in the top 5 it just happens that we made some dumb choices to do it.

Maybe MAYBE he has value as a Taysom Hill type gimmick but he is a bust in his own right without regard to what the team did to get him.

Gilbert was 2 1sts for a decent starting DT.  A bad deal but I can't see how its rationally worse than this.

walk off #1.  And not because I’m a panthers fan or suffering from recency bias.  I don’t know how it is debatable.

again, Russell had all the tools.  Same with Leaf.  And at times flashed.  Both either had too many demons off the field or just didn’t give a poo for it to become consistent or expected and eventually flamed out chasing their demons.  If they could’ve locked in, they were fun to watch.

Bryce is like watching fuging paint dry, but in a house full of asbestos and the paint is lead.  And the house is on fire.  And you’re tied to a chair.  And a sink hole has broken the ground all around the house to create an inescapable death trap of a moat.  And asteroids are slowly approaching the house.  That’s watching Bryce.

Again, I think it’s important to consider Gilbert was a solid, serviceable player for many years.  Russell and Leaf were serviceable while they played.  Not great.  Bryce is not serviceable.  Bryce is not average.  There was a stat at some point prior to that end of season stretch last year that said he was statistically the worst passer in the history of the league with the amount of starts he’s logged.

He's talked about like he's the worst thing in Panthers history, but he wasn't even bad.  He just wasn't worth what he cost.  But he was still good enough to be a starter in the NFL.

Damn straight.  I honestly think most that bring him up didn’t watch those years.  Or not closely.  He was really solid to good.  It was just a bad deal because of the assets we gave up for him.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
