McCarthy is terrible.

Darnold was set to make BIG bank but blew it. He is making basically the same as Mayfield this year. And below them are Fields Jones and Rodgers.

Still six times more expensive than a guy they had on a rookie deal. McCarthy may end up being ass, but why commit 100 million over 3 years to someone like darnold? They might as well have signed Rodgers for half the price for one year if they wanted to go the vet route

Somebody did someone a personal favor with that grade. I have to wonder how much money Tepper has tied up in PFF since we are hiring their guys now.

Yeah, I said in that PFF thread, it must’ve been the same (paid off) guy that said Bryce led the league in all those arbitrarily subjective “big-time throws” on his post-benching redemption tour.

Brock Purdy is making 53 million per season. Geno Smith is making more per season than Darnold.

Rodgers wasn't going to sign there with a 10th overall pick breathing down his neck. He saw what happened to Cousins in Atlanta.

I don't know why you're arguing with me like I'm pounding the table for Darnold. All I'm saying is they had other options and 30 million a season for a starting QB is not that much anymore. Dak Prescott is the highest paid QB this year with 60 million.

Furthermore. Even Daniel Jones went out and blew the doors off the Dolphins on Sunday. The Vikings have one of the two best WR's in the league. They just made a dumb decision.

    • From Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/nutshellsportz.bsky.social/post/3mo3rkrcezs2e  A look at Run Threat Rate across the NFL Run Threat Rate is the percentage of plays where a team either runs the ball or uses play action. This compares each team’s rate when leading or tied versus when trailing to show how much they abandon the run when playing from behind.
    • That's the current dilemma on both parties at the moment. If Ickey comes back too soon, he won't be 100% and his play will suffer. Leading to a potential decrease in his contract. If Ickey is unable to play and sits the entire 2026 season, his contract will still take the same hit since it tells all 32 team that he is not fully recovered. On the Panthers side, I'm sure they would want to keep Ickey if he is fully recovered but he is obviously in a contract year. They don't want to re-sign him to a massive deal since it be too risky and they know if Ickey is able to return to form.  Best case scenario, the Panthers wants to offer Ickey a 1-2 year heavily incentive based prove it deal. However, Ickey would most likely decline the offer and test the market as  another team can come in and offer Ickey a better deal if they are desperate enough for O-line help.
    • They have been giving him a lot of snaps at RT to give TMo some relief in camp. I think that will continue for the time being.
