I think it is pretty simple.  Bryce has lead the NFL in bad throw % since arriving in the NFL.  His ball placement often leaves a lot to be desired often.

Renfrow is tiny.  Tiny wingspan.  So it's really going to highlight the fact Bryce doesn't really put the best balls out there for people w/ someone small like Renfrow.

Outside XL, he has definitely been our 2nd least effective WR.

Either way, if he can't make a bigger impact(for whatever reasons), I would say Coker, Tremayne have shown more reasons to get the PT. So far, anyway.

We need to stop sending Renfrow deep. He's getting open but Bryce can't hit him. Have him run those Thielen routes from the past couple years. Bryce is a lot more accurate making those short to intermediate throws and Thielen just doesn't have the catch radius to reel in Bryce's spotty deep throws.

That's where missing AT is getting us. Renfrow just isn't maling these catches.

TBH, I would start some combination of TMac, Coker and Stephens when Coker returns. I think that is the best combo we have.

Renfrow has terrible chemistry with Bryce. Not sure what is up with that.

If true that Renfrow is filling in for the Thielen role then they haven't had any time to develop chemistry with reps in practice. Bryce and AT had 3 years of reps under their belt with each other, we traded AT right before the season started and thrust Renfrow in there. That's not a 1:1 substitution at all, reps matter, that's the short term pains I mentioned with trading Thielen. Maybe they will get to that level but they definitely aren't there yet. I could see it flourishing the second of the season, you can already see a little bit of a connection brewing.

I haven't seen much indication of a connection yet. He isn't lacking for targets. as he is the 2nd most targeted receiver on the team so far.

He does have the 3rd highest QB Rating on targets, though. Behind only Chuba and Evans.

You putting Renfrow in with XL? Renfrow has been doing his job.   The connection issues are largely on the QB and playcaller.

I do think we need slot diversity and Bryce really needs more of a TE than slot WR in the slot.  Which was AT.

At the end of the day Renfrow was available for a reason. But ball placement matters and it has to get better. Renfrow hasn't been the only one affected by it either.

True, but he frankly has been open enough he should be league in the  CPOY race with good balls thrown to him.   Renfrow has been open and Renfrow doesn’t have a hands issue.

now does Bryce frankly need the Gettlemen WR logic to be applied and need big targets? I’d say so.  I also think Canales doesn’t really know how to use Renfrow and just plugs him into AT role (and they aren’t the same type slot WR)

Not equating the two, just saying they aren't clicking, like XL isn't.

XL's issues are almost all self created. Not sure what to think of HR and Bryce. They don't seem very compatible early.

AT and Bryce clicked VERY early on, so I am worried Renfrow just isn't a good fit with this offense.

I just think Renfrow is just small…..and that highlights Bryce’s ball placement/accuracy issues.    Especially given the routes Canales is sending Renfrow on.

they need to actually let Renfrow run his specialty and then mix Tremayne or Coker (pending XL gets back on the field)  in for the more downfield stuff (bigger targets problem solve more for Bryce).

I think the Renfrow issue is just a QB that can’t put it on him.   And it’s a completely different world putting a ball on Renfrow than TMac

Some of this is also just Dave.  Renfrow and AT aren’t the same.   They can’t play like each other.  I think Dave largely has just plugged Renfrow into ATs gig.  Which was spoken about before the season kicked.   Renfrow is an actual slot WR.  AT just played in the slot
