obviously Ladd was the choice. just saying any of them are better than what we got per usual

The most frustrating thing is that the majority of the Huddle can see most of these mistakes coming as they're happening. It's just frustrating when a bunch of crayon eating casual football fans can see what a professional football organization keeps missing.

Ladd was obviously the pick, but we decided to take the big swing. I realize that most here don't see that as an excuse, but I'm just saying that I understand, even if I don't love what it's come to. Teams that are rebuilding from the studs should probably take a more conservative approach.

I think the biggest issue is that our track record of these big swings during the Tepper era has been abhorrent.

Maybe consider people that love football and are good at it?

The big swing was just idiotic though. You don't take a big swing on an older project who hadn't done anything in his entire college career until gifted an extra season of eligibility due to COVID. Had that extra year not happened I honestly don't know if he would've gotten so much as a shot as a UDFA. If you're going to take a big swing, at least take it on a younger prospect who hasn't put four years of looking like ass in college on tape.

I mean, we weren't the only ones considering Legette. He had a strong year. I still say that he likely wouldn't have made it out the second round, and, it may seem trite, but situations and coaching matters. I'm not ready to blame all of Legette's ills on Legette. In light of what has transpired on the field and his modest popularity off the field, I think he's just an easy target. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that he's just some country bumpkin that can't play in the NFL (at least to a WR3 level, at least).

I prefer colored pencils. The crunch is so great.

Let him ride the pine for a couple more games. Turn him back over to practice and see if he's found it in himself again. If not, put him out there for trade bait. If we can't get it out of him, maybe someone else can.

Chalk it up as a learning experience however it turns out.

Yes. Its not common for teams to have legit WR1 and WR2 spots. Not many teams have a Chase/Higgins or Hill/Waddle. It's usually WR1 and whoever stands out at WR2. Great QBs elevate the players around them. Great coaches realize when players aren't getting it done and put their ass on the bench and replace them with someone who will. It's not on the QB alone.

Name the teams that don’t have a clear 1 and 2?

Sounds like he's mentally down and has to talk to a bunch of reporters asking him what the issue is.  In any event I'm not ready to drag him into the street and shoot him yet.

He just needs to keep his head down and keep working.  Keep the main thing the main thing and stay off social media.

He's gonna be fine.  This is a wake up call... and for what it's worth, Bryce is throwing him absolute dogsh*t passes every time he targets him.

He's not without blame by any means. But I do agree it would be nice to see better consistent ball placement from the QB position.

Yeah, that was one of Cam's key messages to him. Like man, you gotta focus on FOOTBALL FIRST. All these other opportunities likely vanish if you let yourself wash out of the league. I really don't think the Panthers did him on favors focusing on him so prominently in their marketing. He was a guy coming off a less than stellar rookie season that we were hoping would make a leap but the Panthers got out ahead of themselves and treated him like he'd arrive because they saw his marketability but that hinged on him delivering on the field. Right now everyone is looking a little clownish because they put the cart before the horse.
