The Plan To Fix The Pantsers

**Opinion alert, this is just my opinion**

I think the Panther's are broken at the talent evaluation level.  The most fundamental skill an organization must have.  I think this is what plagues organizations and blesses others.  Everything has to start with getting better talent in the building.  Without that you simply can't make a solid assessment on anything downstream so eventually everything gets churned and the problems recycle.

It seems plain as day to me though, if you look at the team since Tepper our talent level has dropped every year which is somewhat insane.  We only accidentally hit on draft picks nowadays and have to try to spend our way to competitiveness on talent other teams drafted and developed.  There is no better mascot for this joke than Bryce Young.

This is all to say there is no fixing the Panthers until you fix talent evaluation.

Thr talent levels include GMs and HCs. One college salesman, a retired HC collecting free money and an OC that needed a lot more time to build up his skills. A GM who was well liked but did squat that was meaningful with his previous team and a GM that was the last guys right hand while also being likeable but also underqualified. It's systematic with Tepper.

thats why he needs a new change of scenary, the fans have been calling for his head for years

Trade 2 first let him pick the gm and establish at least a competent base of winning

My other reaction is ‘but but he is a defensive minded guy’.
Which I prefer anyway. I was not in favor of a single aspect of this  migration to an offense focused organization. Or barely a single aspect.
Dan Campbell seems an exception, he is pretty hard nosed.

Exactly, I have no idea why Dan Morgan isnt getting so much hate right now.  We have so little talent on the team.  He was the right hand man for the worst gm we have ever had previously.   Our top position group is an almost average offensive line (highest paid in the NFL.) We also have the second highest paid defensive line in the NFL, so even just throwing a lot of money out to overpay players isnt working.  We haven't had a really good draft in years and years.  A lot of people have hope for this one, but that happens every year for a while.   Every year some people try to talk about how many rookies are playing as a way to defend his drafts.  How many of thse rookies are playing above an average player level or making a real impact?  They are playing because we have no talent.  If they got drafted by a decent team then most of these rookies would not be playing over the years.  Dan Morgan should be at the top of the list for needing to be replaced but you dont hear his name mentioned hardly at all.

I think its hard to know who is good or not with bryce young at qb.  a good qb brings up the play of those around them and a horrendous qb makes everyone suck.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
