Bryce Young Is a Symptom, Not the Disease

I have seen Young make some incredible throws that suggest arm strength isn’t an issue, on the run, going to his left etc.  however his height is an issue with pressure in his face

He has made some good throws yes. His arm isn’t great by any professional measure though It might be decent enough, but the poor footwork inhibits it.
So he has to really focus on that and from what I’ve seen he is not consistent.

peace.

He had a big arm before he hurt his shoulder.  Noodle arm Pennington was out of the league pretty quick.

I probably don’t have memory of him pre injury. I picture a 3/4 to sidearm almost delivery and limitations. Probably faulty memory.

I want a wrist flicking it for 40-50 yards guy with some mobility and some brains. I know it’s a tall order but we are supposed to be aiming high and not for good enough, maybe.

Well big arm is probably too much credit. He had an NFL arm before all the rotator cuff surgeries in 2005 and onward

The guy from Marshall with the Jets, Pennington I think, had a weak arm but he had some size. He lasted a few years but never did much.
The team says ‘it’s a big man’s game” and drafts a historically small player over every single other player. He doesn’t have ‘plus” anything and has a minus arm. It will never make sense.

He lasted 11 years and tore his shoulder up twice.

Young isn't fit to carry his jock.

I've only ever seen Young make regulation NFL throws - which, yes, compared to what the average person can do are impressive, but he's never thrown a football with the type of velocity where I've thought "Damn, ok".

I still think Lance would be a good one to bring in this offseason.  Learned behind some good offensive coaches, has sat for a while now, has all you need physically, and has looked decent in the preseason and very limited snaps so far.

I agree and we should leave no stone unturned in seeking actual competition in the QB room. I would say it should be a given and an automatic assumption that we will do that but sadly we cannot assume that will 100% be the case with the history of decisions by our brain trust.

Bryce Young is just a smaller, more effeminate version of Jameis Winston. Has some great plays but turns the ball over way too much

And I still think that's being generous. Not many can throw a accurate deep ball like Winston.

The propensity for turning the ball over without the arm talent.

We wish Bryce Young had Jameis's arm.
