Drafting X is like the poster board for mistakes. Hopefully, lesson learned.

Tidjane Salaun was a worse pick

The one thing you can say about him is that he genuinely does have like 4-5 years before he is a bust. XL was 24. The NFL window is SOOOOOOO small. If he clicked on all cyclinders from day one, he might be around and still productive at 32. Might.

XL has the same amount of TDS as AJ Brown this season.

AJ Brown is a proven commodity. That's the difference.

TMac is getting near eclipsing XL's entire career production less than halfway through his rookie season.

That's a prime example of why people bitch about XL.

Yeah nobody even close to 24 in the NBA draft.  Certainly not near the top.  It's a completely different type of draft.  It's all 18 and 19 year olds and they just draft on tools and hopes and dreams.

I seem to recall (hazily) that the Bryce camp was lobbying hard for XL.  Does anyone else remember that or is that just a fever dream?

It was discussed. I am one who believes Tepper laid down conditions and wanted immediate help for his draft baby. They had Theilen in place so do t take his position that is his stuff like that can happen.
He is not loafing and has contributed with blocking and had a TD to help vs Miami. I don’t think he will be a complete bust.

Under perform his draft position? Yeah he can join the club

Bold statement after he tries to toss the game away to Dallas while getting wrapped up.

you can’t fix “this guy has no idea how to play football.”

he’s a quirkier Ian thomas.

He did that lol yes he did. Bet he does not do it again.
Rico said he called him to throw him get him the ball in case you didn’t hear. Fwiw.

XL was a bad RAS driven pick.  No doubt about it. Kind of irrelevant as Dan moved on to a PFF/ analytics driven model prior to the 25 draft. Based on early results,  I think we should feel good about future drafts.

This place wants to get rid of every single player that doesn't have a banner rookie year and XL is no different.  I'm not saying XL is the answer, but I am saying that no one should turn on any player this early in their NFL career unless they have work ethic and/or locker room issues and XL has neither of these.  The guy is barley in his 2nd year in the league.  This place said Derrick Brown was a bust.

I think the worst case deal, is to turn him into a TE in a off-season.  He's only like 25 LBs away, roids would do it. Maybe give him the confidence he needs too.

    • This won't be a trap game for them. I worry more for the next time we face Atlanta. That's a death trap game if we aren't careful.
    • Luckily, we've got more games ahead to watch and see what happens. Maybe he keeps growing his game, maybe we see that he's topped out when we hit stiffer competition. Or maybe he flames out against a team he should well be able to beat like the Jets this weekend. I really can't tell where all of this will end. I can say, though, there's no reason to hit the kid at the moment. Let him roll for as long as he can.  Heck, Sam Darnold is setting the league on fire right now, along with Baker Mayfield and Daniel Jones. Examples of guys mired in bad coaching on bad teams (sometimes our own) that hit their stride just as a team did. Maybe we're about to get lucky.  I do know one thing. The biggest change in a winning Bryce and a losing Bryce is that when he plays fearlessly, he is a hell of a competitor. When he gets scared, and he has so many times, it all just falls apart for him and no team can save him. Bravery makes the difference and it comes from believing in not just himself, but his line, his receivers, his running back and the play calling. Just like most young QBs. And quite a few of the old ones. Rodgers couldn't make it in the chaos of the Jets situation. He can in Pittsburgh, so it seems.
    • That’s what I thought too. Maybe I interpreted it wrong. I was considering maybe taking a last minute trip but I think I’ll pass
