No. We do not. Why do you people insist our nfl quarterback cannot throw the ball 50 yards when he’s done it standing still with rushers in his face

Because 2 coaches have not allowed him to do it.  And in a real Hail Mary scenario the throw is  further than the clip shown and likey doesn’t allow a clean setup. You can’t go over the top.  So you have to let WRs get downfield and the technical throw is going to be further and as you have to drop back to by time and likely won’t have an ideal setup.

This thread is turning into bizarro world.

Most of the anti-Bryce crowd was heavily pro CJ Stroud so I am confused how that ties into any racial element.

Not saying we still don't have some of that crowd in here but it's not like the Prime Cam years where this place was rife with those types.

The anti-Bryce sentiment SEEMS to MOSTLY be rooted in his underwhelming physical stature/abilities and/or his underwhelming overall career to date.

All this being amplified by the massive trade haul we gave away for him. So, technically we have missed the opportunity to draft Jaden Daniels AND passed on CJ Stroud. Fairly or not, Bryce hasn't measured up to those type of players at all.

His (literal) Achilles heel is the dude refuses to throw off his front foot and tries to throw Kobe fadeaways for no freaking reason... He actually threw off his front foot in the Dallas game a few times and those were some of his best looking throws of the season.

His happy feet are reminiscent of David Carr.

I wish that was the excuse he could use (dancing around scared of getting sacked). But how the coaches haven't drilled in his head to step forward into his throws (so that way his passes have some strength and so he doesn't sail it over the receivers head) is crazy to me.

He doesn't have the Cam arm strength to get away with crappy footwork. He honestly should have been benched until that got sorted out. It would be like a golfer having all kinds of mechanical issues in his golf swing and being like screw it, I can win the Masters instead of having his swing analyzed and figuring out where he is screwing up in the swing and fixing it...

Also, one of the most frequent QBs mentioned to be brought in via trade has been Winston. Ive been one of the anti-Bryce since the beginning and its had to do with 3 things, physical attributes, that S2 hype BS and his god awful footwork. The footwork thing is painful. Like Greg Little at the combine painful.

Yeah, I don't want to keep dragging this nonsensical racial element into it but most of the league's biggest QB stars are black QB's. This isn't the 80's/90's or even 2000's. The bulk of NFL fans TODAY just want a MFer who is good at their job and can play at a high level.

Now college football.....that poo still has a LOT of what he was talking about. Especially in SEC land. Heard it personally even in recent times.

Truly bizarre. We have a poster who shows back up claiming deep scouting knowledge and his very own QB analytical system that admittedly ranks Bryce 25th among NFL QBs this season stumping hard for Bryce and trying to convince everyone their eyes are lying to them and his arm isn't much of a limiting factor at all.

Make it make sense. I can't.

It is funny to be professing we all know nothing but then tout ones time at a place that literally has him ranked in the bottom quarter of starting QB's.

It's wild.

I think he is calling people out for saying ridiculous things about him like he doesn’t have the arm strength to make nfl throws. Which he does.

There can be nuance to a conversation. You dont have to insist he is the worst at everything. You can view his traits objectively while also realizing his play puts him in the bottom tier of quarterbacks.

Honestly, I don't think his play puts in the bottom tier. His results do. Right now he's a middle of the road guy.

Dude, at the very best he has one of the worst arms in the nfl.  I mean we are 3 years in now and the metrics are there.  Removing the eye ball test and the numbers are still the numbers.  His arm fuging sucks compared to nfl standards.  Couple that with his horrific mechanics and alas here we are.

His situational awareness just seem to randomly flip off for reasons unknown. That has definitely plagued his career to date.

I am less worried about this physical abilities than I am his consistent issues with his throwing base and his decision making issues. Both of those seem correctable on the surface but that progress has been very slow.

He is a guy I thought of as a heady, intelligent QB so to see him struggle with some relatively fundamental things is perplexing.

You can characterize it however you want, but at each step you are saying "this is what I saw" and what I am providing is actual data. And at no point have I ever characterized Bryce as some deep throwing savant, merely pointing out that the data does not support the idea that he is incapable of attempting and making those kinds of throws.

In fact, if we want to get into the analytical weeds, I have my own quarterback metric that I have developed over the years that has a higher correlation with wins than either passer rating or ANYA or ESPN's QBR, and it places Bryce as the 25th rated QB in all of football. If I was biased in any way I'd try to massage the formula to make him look better but the reality is that his lows have greatly weighed on his overall average even this season and he absolutely needs to continue to improve to give this team a chance at future championships.

If you want to dive into the data yourself check out https://qba.info

Your data is useless without explanations of where they come from and what each represents. I say this as someone who thinks Bryce is better than his numbers by the way.

    • If we divide the league up into quarters you need to be able to make 8 worse starting QBs for him not to be bottom tier. Who are they?
    • It just doesn't add up to what we're watching. It feels like you're trying to convince yourself that Bryce can just make a few adjustments and pan out. You say he turns the ball over because he's over aggressive and I just don't see that. A lot of his turnovers are just bad throws oftentimes because the balls sails in him. The fumble issues? I mean, you have the smallest QB in the NFL getting hit by extremely large powerful kej who knows based on film study that this guy is prone to coughing up the ball. If you're being hit by a much larger, much more powerful man intent on removing the ball from your possession you're gonna lose that battle a decent amount of the time. I think some of it is due to bad footwork but some of it is also that when there's traffic in front of him he has to try to get the ball up and over that pressure due to his lack of height. His release point it just several inches lower than most NFL QBs, no way around it. You saying it's more difficult than simply looking at outcomes while completely leaning on situational stats to try to convince people their eyes are lying to them and Bryce's arm isn't a significantly limiting factor in his game. Some people are hyperbolic about his lack of arm strength but honestly he has one of the weakest arms in the league. That's just reality if you objectively watch him play versus other NFL QBs. If he had time in a clean pocket and can step up into and through his throw he can make most throws but that's the problem, for him to make the tougher throws everything has to go perfect. If there's pressure pushing him off his spot or pressure in front of him where he can't step up or has to try to loft the pass over the scrum it's probably ending in a poor result. The problem is that's a commonplace scenario in the NFL. It wasn't at Alabama. Trust your own QB analytical system. Bryce being very the bottom of the league matches up perfectly with the eye test of just watching him olay
    • If he wanted to be as irrelevant as possible in his final year he's achieving it.
