Adam Thielen on Young

I don't think it can be underestimated how much that both Bryce and AT relied on that connection.

They elevated each others play. Frankly, we haven't had anyone AS capable of filling that void.

Not to say in the end we won't be better off because all these potentially future core players like TMac, Coker, Horn, etc are getting more reps and accelerating those learning curves.

No, he did want to go back to Minny. That was a real thing. Given the newer resources we had, it was the overall correct decision to trade him away. It definitely didn't make us a better team in the short term but it may yet make us a better team in the long term.

It was always going to suck to lose him but it was the correct decision to make for him and us.

Idk. I do believe we have 1 more win in the first few games if AT was here. That does matter. Renfrow was put in the AT role, and him and Young had no connection early on.

This is the kind of trade that worked out for everyone.  We opened up a spot for our young wr to get reps for a guy who will retire at the end of the year and got solid draft pick compensation.  Thielen also got to go home. The only one it didn't work for was the vikings

It worked for the Vikes, they are gonna turn a huge profit this year.

Short term is the key point. Those first two games without him where pretty bad. They still aren't back to where they were offensively but they are getting better. Hopefully Tet continues to improve and Coker eventually returns - and stays healthy.

Theilen is about to retire. I dont care about him sticking around. Lets say you did and he retires at the end of the year. Now that connection is gone next year and it's just another excuse for regression that was just held off.

Tbf were not going to the superbowl this year so the development of our young wr is invaluable

As a side note 5 of our wr are in their 2nd year or less ( t Mac, Coker, tremayne, horn, x)

It's def a promising youth movement

I mean, look, we aren't likely to be a playoff team nor a contending team. Could he have netted us another win? Maybe.

It's not a big deal. We need to build for the future and that is the path we seem to be on.

I thought so at the time as well. Of course if the rookies/Legette keep developing than maybe not. At least they got a fourth and fifth round draft pick out of it and the saved 7 million as the Vikings picked up his contract.
