We've all seen highly touted QB prospects bust over and over again so it should never be seen as shocking when it happens, but man... given his skill set, Fields is just unbelievably terrible.

I will never understand how anyone(like yesterday) could make any logical argument Bryce isn't better than Fields. That guy cannot read a defense at all.

And don't let people mistake this for some pro-Bryce rant. Bryce is also not a starting caliber NFL QB. But good God does Justin Fields keep getting chances for literally zero reason.

....a bunch of you goobers desperately pined for Justin Fields to be signed here?

How you feel about that now?

Also, he is unquestionably a worse NFL QB than Bryce Young. Period.

Yes, I do.  He's worse than Young.  I wasn't one of those in the Fields camp, though.  Remember I wanted to wait to the '24 QB class instead of panicking and taking a QB in the marginal '23 draft?  Yeah, QB6 in that class just reeled off a 33 point 4th quarter comeback win yesterday.  A lot of people shat on Bo Nix as being a marginal system college QB.  I think Williams will be ok, not a superstar, but an above average QB1.  The incomplete grades are Penix and McCarthy--the first largely sat year one and JJ can't get on the field.  The rest of that first round class is doing pretty good or balling.

He's truly terrible. And it's not for lack of opportunity. Yeah, the Bears always suck at QB and so do the Jets but he had a pit stop with the Steelers in the meantime. That was his legit shot.

I still wish we had drafted Fields though simply because it would've saved us from making that trade up for Bryce. It would've been the far less painful mistake to move on from.

No, I am glad we didn't draft Fields. With the idiots we have had running the show since he was drafted that kid would be on an 8 year, $65 mil AAV contract.

    • The pattern of what we've done before, during and after the trade and selection of Bryce points to Tepper being involved in his selection and continued presence as the unquestioned starter. Pickett sucked in Philly, he just didn't start. If he hadn't sucked, Pittsburg wouldn't have gotten rid of him as a 1st round QB. Grier is so bad we already cut him once. He offers zero upside. There were FA QBs available last season that we could have gotten over Dalton who actually outperformed Bryce. The bar is low, ridiculously low. But we keep adding people who have proven they are below that bar.  Bryce is a bottom tier QB. We should be actively looking to improve the roster. You can say virtually no QB3s and few QB2s could challenge Bryce. That's true. But it also means there may be some that can. We're not looking for those guys. We should be. They could definitely challenge a KP or Grier.  The goal is winning seasons and winning the division. Relying on the Falcons to win so you can get into the playoffs with a losing record in a weak division isn't a recipe for success.
    • Man oh man talk about getting it wrong coming And going. Have two viable arms and don’t stay the course so you draft a noodle arm that stands on his tippy toes to see, they make us go the full 5 years waiting for him to pan out.
    • I guess it's so we don't have to force a UDFA QB to be in serious consideration for QB3.  QB4 will be just a camp arm and maybe a stash on the PS if he looks half way decent. They will not bring in competition for Bryce if you haven't figured that out by now.  He's either going to sink or swim.  The next QB with a legit arm on this team will be when we move on from Bryce.  I think this is the ramifications from the Darnold/Mayfield debacle.
