I hope Bryce is only out a week, we have a winning team and he had a chance to prove he can beat a team like the Bills or Packers. the team needs to completely evaluate him before making a contract decision. I can tell you they're already leaning towards picking up his option but this will muddy that evaluation process.

I also wish we drafted a late round rookie QB to come in instead of Dalton.

If the team was leaning towards picking up his option before this, then we need to fire everyone right now, not tomorrow, not after the season, but today.

I don't care if you think he still has it in him to turn into a quality QB, that's a totally separate discussion to what he's actually done on the field.  And he hasn't done a single thing on the field to warrant leaning in that direction yet.

You don't pay $27 million dollars for that, it's just crazy.

At best you can say he's done enough to warrant starting the rest of the season to make that determination, and even that I don't agree with, I think he's done enough to prove he's not the guy and the decision should already be made not to pick it up, even if you bring him back next year (which I also don't want to do but that's besides the point here).

Team hasn't ruled him out, he's listed as day to day.

I am betting that is just a tactical formality. Don’t give up  anything until you have to.
This is the worst case we were  afraid could happen last year, in his original ‘prove it no excuses’ season.
Like, leaving the question at least partially unresolved.
We are in danger of that now if he misses significant time.

If they're trading for a QB from the Giants it's not gonna be Winston

Trading for Wilson would be beyond dumb, and I'm not even talking about anything from a football standpoint.

If there is one thing we've done really well this year, is that we've actually turned around the culture in the locker room.  No matter what you think about the players or coaches in games, it's undeniable that this is the most up beat and cohesive locker room we've seen since the Cam days.

You don't insert someone like Wilson into that.  Someone who is more known for being disliked by his teammates than liked by them.

I wouldn't trade for either. Just stating that Canales has history with Wikson if they were gonna make a move. I'd kick the tyres on Cam so he can retire a Panther

He was also demoted after the 2021 season, Wilson’s last in Seattle.

also Wilson is completely washed, the game agains the cowboys not withstanding.

Canales trying to act like there is a chance of him playing this week to make the Bills plan for Dalton and Bryce. He’s going to change up some plays this week. Run, run, run, and play action deep pass.

Bryce probably sits this week and next week at Green Bay and comes back against New Orleans or Atlanta

they definitely are. I remember hearing Canales talking about how "we know we have our QB" after the way he finished last season. he hasn't done enough to lose that praise in their eyes and now we have to pause evaluation. unless he shids the bed when he comes back, his 200 yd, 2 td 1 int games playing .500 ball will get him a contract with us.

That wouldn't surprise me at all sadly to say. I guess it will take finishing with a top 3 pick to get a new starter. Young is going to earn his coach killer reputation after Canales falls victim.

    • I like what Freeling brings to the table all around. If he is willing to put in the work he has an opportunity to be one of the better Tackles in the league down the line. Hunter Brazzell and Hecht are all premium additions but development from our staff are the key to unlocking them. Hopefully Lee and Wheatley will provide much needed additional depth to our secondary. Beyond that it's important not to get too caught up in draft grades. Many drafts over the years that turned out to be really good were not fawned over with praise. While some that were ended up being historical duds. Panthers fans ought to know this as well as anyone. In conclusion...
    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
