Even if it’s fluff they would have a harder time posting it if we were total booty cheeks. The team has a long way to go but is trending up.

That would definitely be a change. If the team manages to be competitive throughout the schedule then there is more interest in their product.
Nobody cares about any of those feel good articles when are winning 4 games a year.

The elephant in the room being the QB.

I don't know why talking heads aren't brave enough to address it.

Because to address it you have to address that he's been shielded from real competition at the backup position, especially this off season. There are things that just don't make sense unless someone named Tave Depper is peddling some influence, and if he's doing it here, he's more than willing to do it other places as well if he's unhappy with some of the things being said about him, especially by an iconic former Panther.

It has been funny to watch the transformation in Indy when they realized AR was not going to be the guy and got a "distressed property" QB.

If there is an offseason to make such a move, it's this offseason.

Sure he is a former Panther and stays involved with the team but I think he is a  straight shooter and tells it like it is. He surely seems more positive than folks around here and he surely knows a lot more than folks here. Feel free to respond to me but know I claim no expertise just repost those who I respect and think are.

Residents of a graveyard would be more positive than most of the folks around here.

Jones was brought in to compete with AR but Steichen was allowed to be real and say AR isnt ready and may never be. It's not a bad thing to acknowledge the reality a lot of these high QB draft picks don't make it as NFL franchise QBs. It's not a knock on Bryce, Stroud or AR. It's just the NFL.

Ive been insistent we needed more than Dalton. Other than the Raiders game, he was horrible. Plummer. Why bother. It's like we put the minimal amount of effort to a position that's actually pretty damned significant. Hell, look at Nick Foles. Backup QB wins the damn SB. Also, how many times have we seen a backup come in and never relinquish the job. Brady was Bledsoe's backup, and an injury launched a career that led to 7 SB rings.

There were guys available that were better than Dalton. We could and should have done more for the betterment of the team. If we had brought in Howell instead of Dalton, and Bryce played like he has until now, then Howell went in and started lighting it up, we would be able to say with certainty that the problems are Bryce problems because this guy can do it but Bryce can't. Dalton has already shown us he's not really capable of a lot. Maybe he surprises us, but I don't have high hopes of HQ QB play.

I don't care who the QB is. Bryce, AR, Jameis, some off world clone of Cam we found in a time capsule next to JR'S pool. Just be real and honest in all QB evaluations and may the best QB win the job. Do what's best for the Panthers, not just any one player.

Nutshell of where we are. Or are not. It is intentional how could it not be?

we really could have just kept Darnold and actually built a line around him and gave him some playmakers. People forget how good he was playing here until CMC got hurt

I saw the signs late 2022 even when he wasn’t tearing it up. He was close.
All that upheaval and regression we have suffered was unnecessary.

If we move on from Bryce, 100% down for a competition next year. Dalton(if he is still around), FA QB or rookie or some combination of all. Just something else.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
