Packers game predictions

I know everyone is pessimistic and I don’t think the Panthers win. However, the Packers seem to fall asleep easily on teams. They lost to Browns, tied Dallas, almost lost to Arizona, and then Flacco and the Bengals almost clawed back. I think we lose because we are on the road and are a totally different team when traveling but I don’t think it’s a blow out.

Packers pass D is weaker than the run D, I think if Bryce plays he’s going to dink and dunk them to death because their secondary is the weak point. I just think the D will run out of gas against the offense.

Packers 28 Panthers 17

We lose in a non competitive game 38-20.

Bryce doesn't look much better than Dalton did and all the people this week saying "see we told you he's great, look how bad this team is without Bryce" blame it on the OL injuries and/or his ankle and already start laying the groundwork for that being why he is still one of the worst starting QB's the rest of the season and why he deserves another year, if not even an outright extension.

And no, that's not what I'm rooting for, just what I objectively think will happen, just as I've been saying for a month would happen once we got past the cupcake portion of the schedule.

Although, I will admit there is a big caveat to this game.

Packers coming off an emotionally big game against Rodgers on the road in Primetime and a MNF matchup with the Eagles at home the following week, it is a prime opportunity for a let down game with them being at home and looking ahead.

Which if it's the case, I think we still lose, but only something like 24-21.

It’s happened before. Precedent. They’ll start blaming Canales too.

Well sure, I'm clearly not a Bryce believer, but I've also been very loud against Canales too, for an offensive minded coach who calls plays, he kinda sucks a play design and calling, it's bland and predictable.

I will give Canales a ton of credit in that he has completely reshaped this franchise's locker room spirit, these guys seem to be having fun and genuinely believing in themselves and each other.  That's something we haven't seen here in a little while and he gets A marks from me in that regard.

But if I had to keep one next year and replace the other, believe it or not, I'd replace Canales and keep Bryce.  Use Tepper's huge wallet and a promise that the HC gets 1 season of Bryce and then it's 100% his call, no GM or Owner input, while also guaranteeing them 2 full seasons post Bryce, no matter what.

It allows them to build out a team properly instead of feeling they need to shoot for the moon right away, think like the Texans did before getting Stroud.  Then they have the choice in year 2 to dump Bryce and sign a gap year QB while building out the rest of the roster without concern that a bad year will get them fired, knowing we'll then go all in on getting a QB in the next offseason.

Tepper needs to get in a room with the top candidates and be sincere and prove to them he'll hold his word on this, it's the only way to attract a great HC candidate.

Yeah, brilliant. Keep Coach killer. Build a college offense. Perfect.

I wasn’t saying that to defend Canales, just that it is the next illogical step in the excuse parade.
Anybody’s fault but Bryce. Always. Consistency is important.

    • Serious question:  Why LG and not RG?  There may be something I do not know, but Hunt's contract is huge and he could be let go after this season (post june 1 cut) and it would save the Panthers a ton of money.  Extending him would be paying a G who is in his mid 30s guaranteed money (and I do not see that as a terrible thing).  So if we release him at age 31, we save $19m.  I like him, but at 31, will he be worth the mega contract?   LG Damien Lewis has actually outperformed Hunt and he is a year younger.  He would also save less vs. the cap and leave less in the dead cap pool.  While his current contract expires after the 2027 season, he is a better prospect (IMO) to extend because only 50% of his current contract was guaranteed.  Here are his contract numbers.   Now, getting to Ickey--he could want LT money if he is offered a second contract.  If we pay him LT money to play either G positions, we are likely overpaying.  Secondly, the injury he suffered could be one that limits his productivity.  Ickey was improving, but he was an average LT.  The only way I re-sign Ickey is to have him accept a G contract and make a lot of it incentive based.     I feel like I am missing something, but in my mind, Ickey was always a guard if you consider the fact that he is an average OT and would be a great G.  Is that still the case (injury)?
    • Supplemental draft uses picks from next year. So a team were to draft him in the 1st, their upcoming 1st next draft would no longer be available. There have been some notable players that were obtained in the supplemental draft, such as Kosar. It doesn't necessarily happen every year either, and is more on a as needed basis. The gambling trouble is a big red flag for teams, and maybe pushes him down to a 4th? Not sure a team would use a 1st on him.
