QB options for the 2026 season

Of all the available QBs next year, Russell Wilson is most likely to be brought in. He has previous experience with Canales in Seattle and has won a superbowl with them. And apparently per a report Canales loves Wilson. It's just concerning that Wilson has lost his jobs to 2 rookie QBs, Dart and Bo Nix. Steelers also preferred a 40 y/o Rodgers so I don't know how much Wilson has left in the tank.

fug that. Russell Wilson is just cashing checks at this point. This year when he was playing for the Giants he would just flat out bail on any play where he thought he might get hit. He doesn't want to be out there anymore but seems like he's gonna keep cashing checks for as long as an NFL owner is willing to write them.

I agree that Wilson isn't the answer, I'm simply just saying that there is a connection there and Canales favors his Seattle boys ala David Moore. But people want to see if Bryce is really handicapping Canales or not, then let him choose his QB who he's worked with and see how he does. Also it'll let us know how much influence Canales has over Dan Morgan.

If Canales' proposed answer is signing Russ just go ahead and fire him at that point.

If dan and/or dave sign wilson they should be shown the door immediately.  He has been washed up for 3 or more years now.   I mean borderline Dalton level play.

I am betting on Canales being handicapped. He has made some progress with Bryce but the limitations are real.

Re Canales/Morgan on the general personnel questions I have been working under the assumption that Dan probably knows less about offensive guys particularly WRs and QBs than Canales and the decisions default to Canales unless Morgan feels strongly about something. In which case he probably has the upper hand

A major decision like Bryce’s status/future is probably a big powwow thing and Tepper will be consulted as well. My guess only.

Take a vet and draft one too (early or later). Young hasn't shown anything worth his 5th year option but this team loves bad decisions.

this seems to be the new move, sign a vet and draft a 1st rounder. you either end up like NYG with Dart/Wilson or Indy with Richardson/Jones.

CYA approach. Indy had a QB with availability issues and NY really did it the way I hope to see here.

right or wrong but by all accounts baker was a complete immature ass that his teammates hated in Cleveland. I dont think it was ever about talent but simply him being an ass and the team was not that far removed from Johnny m and they had a chance at Watson they decided to cut the cord.

So to me it looks like baker got humbled, matured, got married and alas here we are

I never truly bought into that narrative. Could have easily been a Browns smear campaign.

I am sure the experience caused him to dig a little deeper and maturation happens naturally. We saw it with Cam too.

Wilson is the guy that the Huddle pines for. One of the best deep balls guys in NFL history.

The issue is that much like his career comp I have made previously, Donovan McNabb, his age has killed his ability to scramble and that has MASSIVELY reduced his effectiveness. He was what the Bryce homers truly thought he was going to be, a guy that extends plays until the big bomb comes available.

And we all saw how McNabb went out when his mobility went away. Enter....current Russell Wilson.

For Wilson to have a career resurgence, he would have to completely change the way he plays the game and I am reminded of the "old dog, new tricks" adage.

TLDR: He is washed. He will just make everyone but the WEEEEE LONG BALL guys infuriated.

I don't see a whole lot of McNabb in Russell Wilson tbh.  McNabb thrived in Andy Reid's west coast attack.  Wilson was a play action chucker that scrambled like Fran Tarkenton.  When Russ hit the NFL he was the only one doing that reverse spin move thing.

Some of that is offense. I mean playing style. Look how often both of them extended plays by scrambling to hit long passes. Both relied heavily on that athletic ability to QB effectively.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
