Would you be willing to trade Chuba?

Move 3: Chuba Hubbard, RB, Carolina Panthers

Trade Details:
> Patriots receive: Chuba Hubbard and 2026 seventh-round pick
> Panthers receive: 2026 fourth-round pick

New England needs more from their backfield. Rhamondre Stevenson has struggled throughout the season, and while TreVeyon Henderson has flashed, he has not yet earned the trust to be a consistent focal point, lacking proper snaps for a lead back. The Patriots have had to lean on Maye’s arm more heavily than ideal, and adding a runner capable of producing efficient yardage would give the offense better balance.

Open to it, just how we deal with the contract is the only question. I expect they will want us to eat some of it to get to a 4th. When you spend a fortune on your oline, you don't pay RBs. Dallas and Philly have been a model for this. Dallas used to be and Philly has pretty much been plug and play at RB and <insert name here> have a career year.

Interesting choice of examples with Philly considering Saquan Barkley is the highest paid RB in the NFL.

Except they let another team spend the t10 draft pick on him then get a t10 talent at RB in his prime without spending draft capital. Big difference. I’m all for getting a top RB on their second contract after using draft picks to build the rest of the team. Chuba is not the type of RB worth paying. I get why they did it and was not super hard on the decision because the contract wasn’t THAT bad, but would I trade him for a 4th round pick? In a heartbeat.

I'm torn. It's easy to crap on Hubbard and Rico is doing well. This team is dogpoo without an effective running game. If we had a decent QB I wouldn't care but we are 1 injury away from needing to run the Wildcat and even without that injury they still need to be running the ball more than throwing. Otherwise sure why not?

Bigger issue is the offensive calls and the OC/HC has no idea how to rotate or spell players.

On the one hand we absolutely should heavily consider it if there is an offer made. We have Dowdle Etienne who we just drafted who has shown nice burst in few carries and we have Brooks rehabbing. We've got a lot invested in RB along with the highest paid OL in football. It's too much honestly. You'd almost forget we have a guy who was supposed to be a generational ball distributor behind center.

On the other hand we can't ignore the fact a number of players we have traded away over the last few years have seemed to thrive elsewhere at least initially.

It's a tough situation. But in the end. This is why you don't pay RB's and if you do they better have historic numbers like Saquan. And even then if you do that the first question you need to ask yourself is do you need a better QB.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
