Mike White or Hendon Hooker coming back?

Rumbling around the interwebs that they may bring one of them back. Fuggin circus tent stuff, but it is what it is. Who would you want here or neither of them.

Young is done and so is Dalton. Something had to give. I really don't want to see the boy wonder under center again.

I figured one of two things when White was released.
He is moving to the practice squad (or maybe Hooker but why cut him?).

Or they had eyes on another QB for the practice squad or maybe even a roster spot.

If they bring White back the mystery add probably didn’t materialize.

You really have to ask yourself why they cut both of them and left themselves down to the two pieces of poo we currently have rostered at QB in the first place?  It is asinine.  Absolutely ridiculous.  My theory is that either or both Hooker and White make Bryce feel less secure with his role, so they chose to eliminate the distractions.  No doubt in my mind, White is a better NFL QB than Bryce - he has the tape to prove it.  Hooker is still an unknown for the most part, but I know without a doubt he has better presence and physical tools than Bryce.

Benching Bryce for a PS QB that we cut last week will probably make Tepper smash the picture of Brady sitting on his desk.

It’s also another thing that makes this so maddening for me - Canales benched Bryce last season for less worse (if that’s a thing🤣) play than what he’s exhibiting now.  Most of us fans took it as a positive - new coach coming in and asserting himself and saving the locker room.  The fact he won’t step in now when Bryce is single-handedly killing the season?  Now I’m wondering, was the benching last year even Dave’s call, or built-in and agreed-upon theatrics from Tepper.  Like putting your kid in timeout because you don’t want to have to spank them or take away their electronics?

I don't give a fug about Tepper, his temper tantrums and his big ass in the way of success. Bring White back and put him in. Can't be worse than the mighty midget. Watching a ball travel more than twenty feet will be wonderfull.

I think they are committed to giving him the rest of the games to prove he is worth then 5th year option. Fair plan.

He can prove it in the negative with a couple more games like Sunday, and they may be free to try something or someone else.

I genuinely don't see the point in starting anyone other than Bryce or Dalton the rest of the season.

We're not finding our long term solution off the scrap heap at this time of the year, so no need to "see what they've got"

And even if Bryce and/or Dalton continue to be terrible and cost us games.  Again, what's the point in trying to "fix" that at this point in the year, just take the losses and better draft positioning while making it much easier to move on from Bryce in the offseason after he's finally lost all his support amongst fans so nobody is upset when we cut for trade him for a conditional 7th rounder.

There is an argument to be made that bringing in a better QB will still allow for the pass catchers to develop more.  But again, at this point, that ship seems sailed, there isn't a Jameis gunslinger type out there where it would do what is intended.  Even a Hooker or White type of guy is going to take time to develop any timing with these guys and it won't help much before the season is over.

He was bad Sunday but I think you may be recency biasing here, he was horrid week 1 2024 and only a smidgeon less horrible the next week. But still really bad.  Hopeless looking. That one was maybe close to Sunday but our defense kept us in the game longer (the other day).

He sucks against the Saints apparently, and plays good against Atlanta lol. Watch him go out there and win the game Sunday.

But if we see a repeat of Sunday again this week, geez who knows what will be done. If anything.

When someone with an actual NFL caliber arm starts throwing while Bryce is anywhere near you can’t hide it.  The players aren’t dumb they see it too.  They’re trying not to lose the support of the other players.

My best guess anyway.

    • This is huge may not be a trap game but this plays a major part in what they want to do. If we can get some pressure on Sam we know what he does with pressure coming hit and heavy. Also we may be able to take the top off their defense a backup safety trying to stop TMac or Cooker over the top or forcing him to play the backend should allow us to run the ball somewhat effectively. Either they allow some runs or we take some shots and if Bryce and whoever can connect deep we’ll be in business for another big time win against a top notch opponent. Might not be a trap game but health travel game plans all play a major role in each weeks game plan and this week might be leaving our way. We’re missing some replaceable pieces they’re missing key anchors to the offense and defense major difference time to solidly ourselves at one of the top teams in the nfc tomorrow fellas buckle up.
    • Yes.  If I am not mistaken, we need to sign Coker to the ERFA tender and insist that XL spends his spring and summer at a WR camp and not Coon huntin on his four wheeler.  XL was raw when we picked him--which is why I wanted to go another direction--and we are seeing how raw.  He is basically learning a position.     The Panthers will make their move in 2026 to be an NFL powerhouse behind Bryce.  Bryce needs intelligent WRs who catch the ball.  That said, we need a solid #2 to challenge XL and make cutting him easy, if necessary.  A #2 WR (intented to be a #1 by now) with under 400 yards is embarrassing.   On offense, you have to ask, "Where can we get better?"  In my view, #2 WR, TE (although they are improving) and maybe C (again, if we re-sign Mays, he is trending up and at 26, entering his prime--I say stay with him and find competition later in the draft (not good for C).  OL depth maybe?  In other words, XL is a glaring weak spot.
