My issue with posts like this is it puts ALL the blame on the receivers to "do their jobs."

I think this game proves what the offense can be when Bryce can throw accurately downfield. The problem is, he hasn't been able to. Coker has been open consistently. T-Mac has been getting separation. But a lot of times our guys have had to catch terrible balls and that prevents YAC.  On top of that, we've all seen Bryce just... miss people.

Bryce came out focused and played HARD, gave a huge gutsy performance. I hope he follows this up with more performances like that.  And sure, our WRs need to continue to play hard, but I think it's unfair to claim they haven't been (other than XL, but yeah...)

That whole paragraph was about what an offense can look like when it’s not putrid. Which relies on receivers doing their jobs, plays and throws that lead to YAC, and the threat of intermediate and deep throws. I wasn’t saying “receivers play good and Bryce can throw for 300+.”

Bryce proved me wrong…I am man enough to say it.  What’s your excuse

Proved what wrong? That he will never have a bad game against Atlanta?? He owns that dome, thats great. He cant come out next week and look pedestrian again after that. Thats the thing.

I said in the gameday thread he would have a big day, I also said he played well today afterwards including the fact that we won because of Bryce not in spite of him (even though this was the first time that has happened this year). So miss me with that poo.

edit; I think I also said if he does this the remainder of the year il be a believer.

Statement game is putting up #s like that against a playoff team. This is the Atlanta falcons people. Slow your horses. Problem is, he probably did just enough to get an extension and we are going to be right back to where we were next season complaining about how horrible he is.

The Atlanta Falcons came into the game as the #1 passing defense in the NFL. They held Josh Allen to 180 yards with 2 interceptions and an 18 QBR.

Not arguing against that, falcons fans were saying they were down CBs, is that true or were they just huffing copium?

I saw Terrell playing along with Bates and Watts. Walker and JPJ played too. Not sure about their CB2 or NB, but pass rushers, safeties, and CB1 all played.

See a lot of talk about “Bryce or Receivers” on the deep ball question. Seems to me that game planning around our O-line issues has been a quiet but major factor here. The injuries  at times have limited our ability to draw up certain plays because the protection won’t be there. Any one paying attention has noticed some of the egregiously blown one on ones from game to game where an otherwise big play was there. Even if it’s not the back up blowing it, the lack of continuity and chemistry can take its toll in picking up assignments along the line.

Bryce’s tendency (need?) to drop back a mile factors in as well. It doesn’t help our book ends (one at the end of his career on a questionable knee, the other with this notable weakness since coming into the league) against speed rushes on the outside.

Bryce’s health has probably also fed into it. Difference today was deciding it doesn’t matter because this was a must win.

Saw a stat last week where we’re at or near the top of the league for least amount of time from snap to pass release.

TLDR: Pass protection affects deep ball success as well. We may have been game planning around injuries/weaknesses.

Alright, fair - I agree that it makes a huge difference when we can have the threat of the intermediate and deep throws. Amusingly, it didn't really open up the run game - The Falcons kept saying, "So beat us, Bryce." And he did... He'll need to do it again this season a few times.

they had 2 CBs on the injury report, so there is that.  But everyone is banged up this time of year, so...
