Again, this is not a statement of opinion. This is a prediction of what's going to happen.

I normally don't do that sort of thing, but it's valid in this case.

Will...not should...

Its not a prediction if you cannot explain yourself.  And simply saying "winning" doesnt really articulate poo. Today was a good game, but we are not winning because of him and if we on the huddle can see it dan and dave sure as fug know it as well

I don't think Bryce deserves the 5th year option at all. But if they want to pick it up, and bring in some legit competition, I'd be ok with that.

But if they roll into next year with Bryce and Dalton or geno then fug this front office

Picking up the 5th is saying you believe in him, he is your guy.  Bringing in comp goes against that message.   And his 5th is 30ish million.  Thats a lot to invest in someone that you think still needs comp

I don't want them to pick up the 5th but I think they are going to. That's why I'm saying I hope they bring in some competition

He doesn't need to, because it's obvious.

We're winning games and in the playoff hunt, for Tepper and this fanbase after how bad we've been for so long, that's always going to be enough at this point.

Bryce hasn't earned that extension getting picked up, but when you're in the playoff hunt at this point in the season after how our last decade has been, it's going to get that QB's option picked up almost no matter what.

And that's the problem, we're going to screw our long term future because people can't look past wins.

And I also have to be clear, this isn't a Bryce bashing post based on today, he did just play one of his better games of the season just by way of not making bad mistakes and by making a couple well placed throws.

But having said that, it also need to be pointed out that it's not a recipe for long term sustained success either.  It's the recipe for those teams that have random years of hovering around .500 before falling back to earth the next season because the ball isn't bouncing their way every week.

It may not be, and I've seen this movie before.

But barring something on the level of career ending injury, I just don't see any other path.

Bryce not getting picked up is Twilight Zone territory at this point.

Yeah, I get this week is doing the classic Bryce crazy reaction thing.

fact remains, you are still claiming it’s a certainty…..the worst starting QB in the NFL since 2023 with middle school physical levels tools is a guaranteed 5th year pick pickup…..just because.

Not to mention the very high odds bad Bryce shows up majority of the rest of the games and they can’t win in spite of him down the stretch (as we don’t get anomaly performances from those around Bryce, which is basically what has to happen in our wins minus Atlanta.  That well probably is as close to maxed out as it can get this season.

Canales has coached the hell outta this team

He has flaws but also has gotten a lot of really good resilience and tenacity instilled in this team and definitely a shift in the culture. 7-6 with a QB playing awful for all but like 2-3 games and some big wins over 2 contenders in the Rams and Packers is insanely good.

also as much as I’ve trashed Evero in the past, he’s growing on me. The D has been fuging legit the last few months despite some holes talent wise.

    • Love the Freeling pick even more after watching his pressers. Dude is sharp and definitely seems to have the right mentality. I loved hearing how personal he took having a bad game with a torn labrum and instead of seeing that as the reason for his bad game and not changing anything, it motivated him to work even harder. Such a great pick, we finally got our all pro level LT for the next decade and now we can move Ickey to RT or guard with no hurt feelings due to his injury. Second favorite pick is probably Brazzell. He said he false started on his 40 and it cost him probably 0.04 seconds, so he’s more of a 4.33 guy rather than 4.37. Really Randy Moss lite. I didn’t know anything about him prior to drafting him and first highlight reel I saw of him I immediately thought he looked like Moss. Then I saw the measurables and was like yep. Then I see that he’s drawn that comparison by many scouts and analysts. If he can add consistency and play to the level of his highlights every play then we got an incredible value.
    • During his three years at UGA he only allowed 5 sacks. He is only 21 and is on an upward trajectory. He's a great athlete that was good basketball player in high-school.  His height (76% how is this only 76%???? these guys are giants now), hands (81%), span (99%), speed (96%), quickness (10 yd. 86%), and explosiveness (vert. 96%, broad 97%) are all outstanding.  When we took Freeling, Fano, Mauioga, Proctor, and Miller were all off the board so we could have drafted Iheanachor or Lomu instead or waited to the second or third round to take Bell, Tiernan or Barber or wait even longer.  A lot of these tackles (including the first two taken) project to right tackle or guard in the NFL and that's not what we needed now.  Freeling has some sloppiness to clean up in his run blocking, but he's young and getting better.  We can let him get experience behind Walker and Moton knowing if he has to replace one of the two this year, his pass blocking won't get Bryce killed. Icky's not coming back from that injury as a nfl starting left tackle and Moton is in the twilight of his career.  If Walker has a great year, we will have to pay him a lot and if he is medicore we would want to let him walk.  Getting a LT on a rookie contract is going to help a lot with the cap.
    • It was cool but they have done this at least in recent years unless I am imagining it
