McMillan is the 7th overall receiver in the NFL right now. Not rookie, but all of the NFL right now. This fact should not be undervalued or downplayed. He is in front of Jefferson (albeit with 3 more snaps) and behind Chase (albeit with 13 less snaps). He's right there with them, and that's notwithstanding the Panthers situation, and notwithstanding that he is a rookie. I say, "He is in their stratosphere," and I ain't stuttering.  We have a real one, regardless of who doesn't realize it.

Oh I agree with having a real one, I'm just always hesitant to declare a rookie at the level of future HoFers, especially given the circumstances on all three of those teams.

Still TMac is fuging great. Every game too it feels like we have missed opportunities to him that if the passing game gets cleaned up... He can be even more productive

Dude, he's had to endure Bryce "180" Young. Talking about a handicap...For Tetairoa to have the production he's had is a miracle. And, as you should know, the best ability is availability. If Egbuka and Dart are injured, they can't be OROTY. If Ward is having rookie troubles or whatever, OROTY is out of the realm of reality. I'd say it all equals out---akin to poetic justice.

Where's the loyalty? Keep pounding, and not for the opposition.

T-mac will be a perennial top 10 receiver for years to come---too five if we can get our QB straight.

There certainly is some irony in showing "loyalty" and to "Keep Pounding" for one Panther while bashing another in the same post. Just saying.

Bryce isn't nearly a top QB in the NFL. That's not "bashing," it's just honesty. He averages under 200 yards per game (also true). He's not doing any of our receivers any favors when looking at simple stats, much less the totality of his stats. Even still, I haven't expressly compared him to the top QBs in the NFL, or suggested that the only reason he is 20th is because others are injured or stink. You're kinda comparing apples to oranges. Moreover, my loyalty is to the team---what's best for the Panthers---not just one player. "Keep pounding," is a motto for the entire organization and fans, and doesn't refer to just McMillan in this instance (or Young).

I obviously love the guy, but this is just a tad disingenuous due to not having our bye yet, even if a true statement at the moment.

He'll likely end up being somewhere in the 15ish range going into our next game, I was looking last night and think there are like 7 or 8 players who are less than 45 yards behind him right now and another handful 100 or less.

Being that I didn't think of that, it's not disingenuous at all. Maybe an erroneous analysis based upon incomplete information. That being said, The season is still ongoing, and you still can't nullify the Bryce effect.  Keep in mind that both Chase's and Jefferson's target shares are above McMillan's right now.

Lastly, all I said is that he is in their stratosphere, and I'm not coming off of it. If you look at his total EPA (expected points added), McMillan's is higher than Chase's or Jefferson's, and is indeed top 5 in the league. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are some other metrics where he ranks very highly. Like I said, with better QB play and (I'll add) perhaps better play design or coaching strategy, T-mac will be a beast. No need to downplay him.

100% and I don't think anyone could argue that there has been a bigger supporter/fan of his than myself, so I'm not trying to talk down what he's done this year.

But it's why I also have personally not brought up where he ranks in receiving yardage the last 2-4 weeks like a lot of people (and the team) has been doing.  As while I know it's "true" and a cool thing to talk about, I always knew this bye was coming and his slim lead over the guys behind him will cause him to "tumble" down those rankings coming out of our bye.

Even finishing 15th in the league in receiving yards as a rookie would be a MASSIVE accomplishment, particularly when his QB only has 3 games all year passing over 200 yards.

My Cowboy fan wife absolutely loves watching him make great plays for someone other than her team 😆

hahaha, love it

I was actually just talking to someone yesterday about what his season would be like if he had fallen to the Cowboys instead.  They then don't trade for Pickens and he falls into that role with them and maybe is making a run for the best rookie season for a WR ever.

But I'll still take him on our Panthers over him having a historic season for someone else, LOL

I think we're at the part of the season where the proverbial "rookie wall" may be affecting him a little.

Don't care though. I'm a hundred percent glad he plays for us.

i think he is just getting the best db every game. Coker and the screen and run game has been the recipient of that. Legette is just turning into a good blocking WR.

Gotta say, Im impressed with Tmac as is.

Coker, I'm excited for his development.

Legette is fuggin with my mind though. He has all the potential in the world but just cant seem to lock in. Hopefully that switch flips and he has a resurgence similar to his last year at South Carolina.

Worst case, we got another guy who I think needs more snaps... Tremayne. Hell of a blocker... should be a Panther longer than most expect.

Back to the OP, we'll see if he gets OROY but I do like him more than rookie DJ and Kelvin at this point.

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
