Fairley 2 inches shorter 9 pounds lighter...

Nick Fairley's stock has been dropping all week. People still clinging to him at #1 are doing so now just so they don't look wrong. He's not even the consensus #1 DT in the draft anymore, Dareus has surpassed him in the past few days in a slew of mocks.

I have yet to see ANYTHING that suggests Fairley's stock is falling, especially among those who's opinions actually matter.

6'3 should be just fine. His weight can be changed by good training, but that's where his effort and desire come into play...

9 pounds under is nothing, not even deserving of conversation. 9 pounds over would be, but this is nothing. Maintaining weight in the offseason is tough, especially for a big boy working out twice a day.

It's interesting that he's 2" shorter than he said he was considering the one consistent criticism I've heard about him is that he has a tendency to play a little too high... that may not be as big of a sin at 6'3" as it was at 6'5"?

The weight is a good thing actually, suggests that he's been keeping himself in shape.

9lbs isn't bad. It's evidence that he's been working on his endurance & foot work. (Ok, its not really but if I were his agent that's how I'd spin it)

Having said that, he's the only player people have been pointing to as our 1st pick that I would be disappointed with. He crosses that fine line between "mean streak" & "stupid penalty" too often imo.

About a month ago, Fairley was clearly #1 on the majority of mock drafts. Now you have Newton and others budging him out with Fairley even being knocked down to #2 on the DT boards on many sites.

I don't know if Fairley's stock is falling or Dareus's stock is rising, but there are several experts now (like Mayock) who do not think Fairley is the best DT in this draft class.

Change name to- Capt. Delirious.

Wh-What? Don't ya know he's the best since God created Adam? He is what a Roman God would look like if they played QB. He's like Zeus, no wait Zeus aspires to be him ya know. See my sarcasm now, JOAT? :D

First and Foremost???? What the heck does that mean?? Newtie said it like 1000 times.

I believe ESPN and Scout are one of the few places that have Fairley still rated above Dareus.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft

1. Bowers

2. Fairley

3. Peterson

4. Green

5. Miller

6. Gabbert

7. Dareus

8. Amukamara

9. Quinn

10. Jimmy Smith

FWIW they have Netwon rated 28th behind Locker.

I have Netwon in the top 10 at this point myself, with Bowers having dropped a bit.. While I believe Quinn will move up as well as Dareus.

Big losers would be Locker, Fairley, and Bowers imo.

I think that Newton has or will have surpassed Locker, (same for Dareus / Fairley and Quinn / Bowers) by the end of the Combine.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
