Bryce deserved the criticism he got (and gets).  He is improving, and the criticism becomes less frequent and less severe when that happens.

TMac is a huge factor, as Dowdle.  These two players, along with the highest paid OL in the NFL, has made him better.

We can build around a QB on a rookie contract.  How will he do when his salary quadruples?  Less money for OL, WRs, and defensive players.   Nobody talks about the cap--but it is a real factor. Morgan is building a solid team.  I want Bryce to succeed.  He is a tremendous human being.  However, when he sucks, I am not going to kiss his ass.

He turned the corner vs the Falcons. He’s been good since then.

It’s still all on a Bryce Young scale of good.  He wasn’t good vs the 49ers.  He wasn’t good vs the Saints.  Thats 50% post Atlanta.  Canales managed him as a bad QB only really letting him throw in absurdly favorable 4th down scenarios (he made 2 great throws on dumb playcalls.  Props for those but it doesn’t erase how Canales had to managed him all the other snaps).  That’s an odd game at best.

Bryce is consistent.  Thats sort of the point the haters make.  He didn’t turn a corner week 17.  Just like he didn’t turn a corner in the random Atl game this year.

XL is at least on a basic level understandable because he does so little to help his case. But he has made an impact in games with critical blocks at least and he has actually scored touchdowns. But we all agree he needs to get his shīt together asap because the clock is running out fast.

Yes.  I think he played QB in high school and was only a factor 1 year at SC.  He does not understand the game--and does not show a lot of progress in learning it.

Yeah a player like Bryce on a rookie contract doesn’t hurt the team but preventing improvement.
But once an extension happens and he can’t play up to that contract and there is nothing we can do because of said contract he will be hurting the team due to being unable to improve the team.

Uh yeah, absolutely. Can you not tell the difference between being pessimistic and rooting for failure?

I can. And depending on the reasons, the person rooting for failure could have a legit reason. Or he could just be trolling.

If my options were choosing between a 5 year 250m contract and secured as our future franchise QB or Bryce imploding and being cut based on his overall performance thus far over his career, I rooting for the latter because I believe the first is a far worse option for the franchise's future.

It all depends on how you view things. I'm not actively rooting for him to fail, never have, but I still don't see him as a franchise QB worthy of a franchise QB contract.

Even on a rookie contract he's the third highest paid player on the team this year. Once he becomes the guy financially all this talk of the OL the receivers and the playcalls and the defense is going out the window.

Yup.  the rookie contract is an audition.  The second contract, if not given to an elite NFL player, is a 2-3 year sentence.

Bryce turning the corner is only going to help matters,  so we can spend resources elsewhere.  Will it happen,  I doubt it. But, we still need to win and change the culture.  Competition needs to come in next season though.

The problem is we're coming up on decision time and rapidly running out of runway to spend tons of money elsewhere. If we pay Bryce like a franchise QB and have to manage putting together a roster with him eating a ton of cap space we're cooked. That's my concern.

Pretty cool when some posters only show up when their favorite player does well.

I'm happy for the team (and yes, that includes our QB) and hope we can finish the season strong and take the division.

I'm glad they pulled this one off.  I was skeptical about a playoff run.  Hopefully they will do it.  I'm not solid on Bryce yet.

I don't think anyone that watches weekly is sold on Bryce, but how "not sold" they are dictates a lot of posts like the OP's.

I'm just happy we're in late December playing meaningful football games.
