Clip of Newton's presser at the Combine

You guys are ridiculous. Have you ever got in front of the press and had to answer difficult questions? I only took one class in college in public speaking and when I was only talking to a class I still got so nervous I got tongue tied and said things I didn't mean to say and I was a straight A student. Not a single one of you can say they could do any better in his shoes considering none have been there.

Not making excuses for him or anything but anyone making assumptions about his intelligence based on an interview are just being ignorant.

Wow, just Wow. Just because they do doesn't make it right. yeah why not just keep dragging everyone down to the lowest denominator. That will make America great again.

Cam can come here and i would cheer for him. He could go else where and I would cheer that we take his spleen. Either way I hope he does well.

I know it isn't right. That wasn't the point. It was in response to someone saying he cheated therefore he is not intelligent. Not that is was okay.

He won't? That is what Franchise QB's do and he is expected to be a franchise QB right? And the damn thing was written by his friggin agent. If you don't believe that then you are either a family member or so blinded by your man crush you have lost all touch with reality.

No, others PC's weren't' as under the microscope, but then again the kid brought it on himself. This moron has done nothing but repeatedly throw up red flag after red flag AND he hasn't proven to anyone that he is NFL ready other than being big, and can throw a football 80 yards.

You would think his agent would have a better muzzle on this kid.

He won't be expected to be a franchise guy right away. No rookie QB is expected to do that. Coming from a family that deals with some of this stuff I actually believe Cam wrote that himself but i also have no doubt his agent or someone around him looked over it and adjusted the wording here and there. That happens all the time.

I have said this all along. EVERYONE who knows him likes him. His teammates absolutely loved him. Everyone at Blinn loved him.

Everybody who spends any amount of time with this kid likes him.

Only people like you who doesn't know him from Adam HATE the guy. I tend to listen more to people who actually know him. People who understand his true character.

If the guy is such an asshole why did his teammates carry him off the field after the championship??? Because he was such a bad teammate??? Because he didn't work hard???? Because he was a prima donna???

No. Because these people really like the kid.

If all this other stuff is red flags that should be your green one.

Not sure yet on Cam, but to judge his intelligence on this presser is absurd. I think we can all go back and find some of Julius Peppers clips and compare the difference.

Also, I graduated college with a Chemistry degree and although not proud of it, there were times that I cheated, yes CHEATED on a test. Shoot me!

You were right not to say you earned the degree. Were you caught cheating 4 times? Did you steal your computer? Did reporters ask you if you broke into teammates lockers and stole from them? Last question: Would your current employer have hired you if they had known that you think cheating your way through college is acceptable behavior?

Allegedly :wink5:

If I ever go to court for committing a series of crimes, I can tell you right now that I hope like hell my jury is full of Cam Newton nuthuggers! I now have evidence that at least 12 exist.

Those twelve aren't his speeding tickets and parking tickets are they. you don't have to go to court for those :) BC that is what the 12 in two years deal was.

I had 20 parking tickets in college.

I own my own business, so I guess you would consider me an icon.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
