Bryce is elite at deep throws

Big time throws are NOT deep passes. As others have said. It's made up and I feel like it's pretty ridiculous.

from PFF:

"What is a big-time throw?

Throws graded at the higher end of PFF's scale (+1.0, +1.5, and +2.0) are categorized as big-time throws."

They can be anywhere, have any depth of target but a grader considered them to be really good passes, which usually means (as others have said) tight windows, beating coverage, can be great deep balls, etc.

Bryce has had a bunch of what id consider good deep passes this year especially the last half but it is really bullshit and disingenuous to push a deep ball specialist narrative that isn't true and isn't necessary for him to be a success. We just need more fuging consistency from him within and between games, and while we need to threaten deep we need the intermediate passing game even more.

I will finish out the spreadsheet after the final two regular season games to show his actual production over time.

Excited to see it. I have a suspicion it won't fit the OP's deep ball narrative, lol

Well, as of 2-3 weeks ago he was at career low deep shot levels. Efficiency was about career average.

In the first half of the year I did a comparison between the last few games of 2024-2025 and the first few of this year and he was clearly gunshy to throw past 10ish yards. Curious how that looks across the season.

Crazy his efficiency is the same, year 3...

Bryce has completed more deep passes as of recently which is obviously a breath of fresh air but you also have to look at the sample size and the circumstances for those. We are still one of the bottom offenses and that is with what had been at one point one of the best backfields in the league.

With two extremely consequential games left to play we shouldn't need to deal in any cherry picked obscure metrics originating from iffy sources on social media anymore. It's time for the rubber to meet the road. Bryce is either going to elevate himself and those around him to finish the season and clinch the division or it is going to be more of the same. Certainly the vast majority of us are hoping for the former. We're going to know soon enough.

Lot of Bryce deep ball that got him this “rating” near the end of the season almost felt like trick plays…..both Rams ones for sure because of the magic Canales has to work up for Bryce.

only QB throwing downfield at a lower rate this season is Goff.  One starting QB.

Just to clarify bad info.

he is not 8th most in attempts.  There is only 1 starting QB in the NFL he throws deep attempts at a higher rate than.

8th in big time throws is not a numbers that represents deep shot attempts.  Big time throws is a made up PFF stat that includes things like tight coverage on a 5 yard route to the sideline

It is 8th in attempts for "big time throws". There was no confusion on my part. And personally, I like the stat not because it makes Young look good, but because it shows/measures a QBs' attempts to make something out of nothing.

We just have a difference of opinion on its value. No big deal.
