Is simmons really that much worse than the rest of our linebacking core

Topic speaks for its self I have been looking at the snap count the past few weeks and have been waiting to see if he took the field. Only chance he has had is special teams. If nothing else if he completely has no brain his physical profile he should be at the least competing with bam Scott and Cherlus for snaps. 

He's been on the team for weeks now I would assume he at least can play a some of our defensive game plan. With how we barely have any drafted linebackers on our squad I would argue he should have started day one if we had 3 linebackers or nickel sets. He also profiled as having some pass rush ability so I would have to argue why isn't he seeing any snaps outside special teams?

He's had 100 tackle seasons in Arizona produced sacks and fumbles and ints.. he can't be worse than bam Martin scott..

He is legitimately just a special teams player. If Evero had no use for Jeremy Chinn then he definitely has no use for Simmons. 

You can certainly argue it is a bit mind boggling for him to be worse than Wallace and Rosebum but it is possible.

I m giving the staff benefit of the doubt hey maybe he is worse than Wallace and rozeboom.. but Wallace is hurt and Cherlus is starting and being spelled by bam Martin scott.. so I'm like is he worse than those 2?

Cherelus is definitely better than Wallace but that's a pretty low bar.

I honestly think that Evero just has absolutely zero idea what a good starting ILB looks like. Or an EDGE for that matter.

I haven't considered cherelus being better than Wallace but, then again I haven't payed much attention to our linebacker play. I just know they aren't make a lot impact plays. Rozeboom has been better than I expected. Wallace has tools, I think he needs more time seasoning.

Wallace should really predominantly be a special teams 2nd or 3rd string LB to develop for a while. He is really quite bad. Not Rozebum bad but not much better.

I don't blame Wallace. He was always going to be a project player and he was forced into action far, far, FAR too early and the continued reliance on him is criminal roster building at ILB.

Eventually, just like at starting center, you have to try to improve the position through the draft. We keep passing on Pro Bowl/All Pro caliber LB's outside the 1st round in draft after draft(sound familiar?). This cannot continue.

I'm not understanding the "Roseboom is terrible" takes every time I watch it see a guy flying around the ball and he's made some big plays especially in the run game. 

I'm not crowning him an All Pro but the guy has been decent. 

You can't aee our defense has improved from last season because of the influx of new players we brought in  and then on those players.

They’re seeing him in practice and ever since he’s been in the league his knock is having no idea what to do on the football field.

like if you can’t handle the basics of the position then you shouldn’t be allowed to play. Unless your name is Ian thomas.

If you can't get some playing time on a team with this many injuries and this many weak spots, then you're just not getting something. Maybe he can't learn the playbook, maybe he isn't catching on well with teammates, maybe he's just working through too many nagging but no debilitating injuries. Maybe he's a meathead that can hit someone right in front of him, but can't actually be part of a system.

Who knows?

I do know, though, that at this last moment of the regular season, if you aren't getting used, then it's because they have little use for you.

They used to keep guys like this as a wedge buster for kick offs....
