Wild Card QB Performance Rankings

Why do you guys keep saying this? I already know this. My post was in terms of the chart and the OP's point which was mainly based upon Bryce's "Total QBR." Even if you dislike QBR, you must dislike Total QBR either the same or worse because it's more subjective, as it's based upon opponents.

I generally don't believe that you can use any of these rankings or stats within a vacuum, but at least I know what passer rating is based on, and I can always peruse raw stats by myself. All of these metrics, stats and ultimately rankings should be juxtaposed against contextual perspectives in my opinion, otherwise you can come away with some wildly varied, or even misguided, opinions and judgements.

I dislike made up stats that are being used to blow smoke up our ass.

BTT, GWD, QBR

I don't hate the stats, I may "hate" how people try to use them. But, it's all just the nature of the beast. Opinions are a part of the beast.

Look I know it all can be bullshit, and, like I said, you have to use context, but if you look at these lists, there are some pretty good QBs on here.20260115_131654.thumb.jpg.b13c602d569b63f6f38bb18283822443.jpg

So, in my opinion, they must be basing QBR on something that's legit. Sure, there are maybe one or two outliers, but, again, that's what context is for.

He had a great game and AGAIN (GB 2023, ATL 2024, LAR 2025) did enough to give me a ton of hope going into the next year. His fault is inconsistency. People are stuck in 2019 thinking if you don't throw for 300 a game your QB sucks. I want 235 a game, 2.5:1 ratio (rushing/fumble included), 66-67% completion, and win the NFC South next year with a winning record. Do that and I would give him the extension, miss those and I have serious questions and look at moving on for 2028. Bryce is inconsistent, but has shown he can do it. I have serious doubts he can do it for 17 games.

Also, holy poo how can I stop getting a massive full screen pop up of a fuggin McGriddle sandwich every time I do anything on this god forsaken website

The bad games far outweigh the good games, and some of the "good" games are just mediocre.

To your last question: Brave browser.

look over at QB Rating....His is the lowest.....not that hard to spin...

Bryce actually made plays down the field consistently in this game, first time ive seen him consistently throw down feild ill take a game like this over one with his 80% completion percentage and 70 yards all day.

I have a mistrust of both QBR and Total QBR because of the opaque nature of them.

They aren't terrible to bounce off other QB measures/metrics but I would agree none of these are a good idea to use in a vacuum.

Well I never played WR but a ball at my knees is not a gimme for me. So I figured same for them. I am not never wrong.
And yeah that Rams TD, throw and catch was pretty perfect. You can’t hardly defend that.

It was a great play, but a better catch than throw. The TE boxes out Moehrig for position. Jumps to catch the ball. Catches it and turns 180 degrees while he's still in the air. Comes down and toe taps to stay in bounds and lunges for the goal post. That first part where he boxes out Moehrig for the ball is huge. If he doesn't do that and simply fades back to catch the ball (this is why Bryce doesn't trust XL), then Moehrig likely undercuts the pass for a break up or INT. Stafford trusts his receivers to make plays for him. Here I slowed it down so you can see it. Great play but amazing catch and score by the TE.

If Cam Newton had thrown a pass like that at the receivers knees with the game on the line in the playoffs we'd be hearing about it all offseason and it damn sure wouldn't matter that the WR was a rookie.

No standards here anymore.

frank, that ball was very catchable where it hit his hands. I don't even think he bent at waist until after he dropped it. He actually slows his pace to position himself to catch the ball. That will never be a pass I'd blame on the QB.

Don’t know why but those videos won’t play on my iPad. I did get to see the play.
And what you are talking about is what I expected to see more of with XL. Bryce just isn’t the passer over to the sidelines deep that Stafford is. Inaccurate a lot. Between XL’s sideline gaffs and the tendency to get the pass too near being OB or just OB it definitely doesn’t work like I hoped.

Maybe because it's Windows 11.

Yeah XL doesn't have enough awareness to make that play. Even if he caught it, he would have stepped or jumped out of bounds. My theory is that XL is used to more zip on passes. Bryce throws with touch. Very different than what he's used to from Spencer.

My first reaction is the mental image of a Cam fastball which surely would make it more difficult. Vs a Bryce cream puff toss. I do think in that situation Bryce’s ball is easier to handle if it is not perfect.
I don’t see the need to die on the it bad pass good pass hill, but do not think Bryce threw him a gimme, at the least.

I am not really willing to cut XL slack on the trajectory of the pass. In fact for a likely 50/50 result Bryce’s rainbows seem like they would be easier to come down with. I am picturing Russell Wilson’s punts that he was so lucky with so often.
That is what I pictured it looking like with him and Bryce.

You don’t have to be that close to the OB for that to work though. Which Bryce seems to not execute, he is often right on that line or over it.

Seems like it couldn’t be that damned hard to make your angle a little less severe when throwing a deeper ball to the outside. But it has been.

As to XL, I never had it out for him but I have eyes. He deserves to be demoted.

This is a drop.

Edit: it doesn't matter if it's the most perfectest throw, this is catchable. Or it looked like it live and looks like it here.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
