Its crazy when you realize JSN and XL play the same position.

JSN was a lot more polished than Legette coming out of college iirc. You could say both of them only had one good season in college but it only took JSN until year 2 to pop off for 1600 receving yards and 9 TDs.

It took Legette FIVE YEARS to get a 1255 receving yards  and 7 TD season. FIVE . YEARS. If you willingly draft a player like that in R1, you may just be an idiot.

Ridiculous draft pick by Morgan in his first year. And doubly so with Brooks being picked right after him. Maybe you could blame Fitterer's old scouting staff that was still there, but Morgan still had the ultimate say so on who got drafted.

Ladd McConkey may have not had crazy production like TMAC did but at least the dude was way more consistent than Legette was. A lot of casual panther fan draft heads wanted McConkey in that draft. He was shifty and knew exactly how to get open.

Carolina had been in a weird mindset of trying to find a DK Metcalf/AJ Brown clone and banking on projection with Funchess, TMJ, Legette. They finally settled down and just took a consistent productive guy in Tmac and what do you know. It worked.

Blows your mind how people who get paid millions make boneheaded decisions like that, repeatedly.

That is some real reaching. I am saying Johnson would avoid being tied to Young as his QB in the first place.
You want to line all the ducks up to prop up your fantastical projection. Which would not line up in reality.
What you are saying is equally as preposterous as the people insisting Bryce would have taken the Texans to the playoffs his rookie year. Same kind of fanning.

The Texans are lead by, and act upon a defensive ONLY minded coach.

Not evenly remotely the same as the coaches I mentioned.

The Texans would've been 8-9 this year with Bryce.

If we had a Qb like Darnold we'd be a contender..

We did have a QB like Darnold. Actually we had two of them at the same time. And an impatient owner AND incompetent GM pushed to dump both and then trade up in the 2023 draft by giving up multiple draft picks and our #1 WR

I old enough to remember that it wasn't just the impatient owner that wanted those 2 out of here, it was an entire fanbase too.

And a pass rush

Seattle basically had a perfect off season. They offloaded a mediocre aging veteran QB, aquired an resurgent younger Sam Darnold. Aquired veteran pass rusher DeMarcus Lawerence from the Cowboys, fixed interior oline drafting  Grey Zabel at guard, put their secondary in good shape drafting Nick Emanwori at Saftey, then got an explosive X-Factor WR/PR/KR in Raheed Shaheed trading for him from the Saints.

Doing something like that is hard man. The Saints did something quite similar to this in 2017 . They immediately went to the divisional round in 2017 and in 2018 they were a blown pass interference call away from going to the Super Bowl with an aging Drew Brees that practically had his arm falling off.

Saints in 2017 drafted:

  • Round 1, Pick 11: Marshon Lattimore, CB (Ohio State)
  • Round 1, Pick 32: Ryan Ramczyk, OT (Wisconsin)
  • Round 2, Pick 42: Marcus Williams, S (Utah)
  • Round 3, Pick 67: Alvin Kamara, RB (Tennessee)

Round 3, Pick 76: Alex Anzalone, LB (Florida)

Round 3, Pick 103: Trey Hendrickson, DE (Florida Atlantic)

Arguably one of the best draft classes in NFL History. They also got Tedd Ginn from us (who magically learned how to catch) and AJ Klein from us (iirc) as free agent aquisitions.

So basically if you ace an offseason, it can propel you deep in the playoffs pretty quickly.

Baker was very bad when he played with the Panthers. Him being ousted was justified imo. AT the time.
